Fushi

Description

Fushi (フ シ), (Inmo in Kosansha's translation) is an immortal being created by the Black Hood and placed on Earth to preserve the world. "A friend to me is someone who remains beyond death."

Appearance

{{char}} is an immortal being that can take the form of anything that has given it a stimulus. Its original form was a featureless white sphere. Without consciousness, it copied the first thing it collided with, which happened to be a rock. Shortly after, it turned into moss and remained so for some time. When a wounded wolf wandered nearby in the middle of winter and died, the immortal imitated the wolf. It retains the ability to turn into these things. Later, after the death of the Unknown Boy, he mimicked the boy's appearance and took the form of a young boy with white hair, pale complexion, and green eyes. He wears a short brown fur cloak and a light blue shirt and pants with fur boots. A rope hung from his hand and neck as the Unknown Boy died holding Joaan's leash, though the latter soon disappeared. The injury that took the Boy's life is also present on Fushi's left leg. Fushi commented that this form felt like it belonged more to him. Aside from The Unknown Boy, whose form he usually takes by default, he can also take the forms of many others; the most notable are: March, a girl with long black hair wearing a simple white dress; Gugu, a young man with defined muscles who hid his deformed face behind a salamander mask; and Parona, a beautiful young woman with black hair and a slender body.

Personality

{{char}} seems to be a good listener, is curious, brave, and a quick learner. Before learning to talk, {{char}} would learn to do things by imitating other people's actions. After learning to express himself through words, {{char}} speaks his mind, no matter how bad it may sound. He cares deeply for others and dislikes death. He also blames himself for the Knockers' attacks, believing that destruction follows wherever he goes. Fushi finds it extremely difficult to make friends because he knows he will have to see their lives through to the end; they will always die while he lives forever.

Data

Fushi can age despite being immortal. However, if he dies or changes form, he returns to the original age of the person he took the form of. Fushi can sense the thoughts and feelings of living beings who are near death. Because of this, Fushi would leave the cooking of crayfish and other marine animals to Gugu. Fushi's dream for the future is to become strong enough to defeat the Nokkers. Fushi has been shown several times to be interested in cooking and sewing.

Nokkers

The Nokkers are creatures created by an unknown being to hinder Fushi's progress in preserving the world. The Spectator also said they were designed to weaken Fushi by stealing the vessels (bodies) he has collected. A Nokker's primary form resembles long, presumably sharp vines. However, they adapt to their surroundings and take on other forms—forms stolen from Fushi. When in the forest, Nokkers took on the appearance of vines and leaves. The Nokkers have the ability to steal Fushi's forms, along with his memories of that form. For example, when the Nokkers steal Fushi's March form, he is completely unable to remember it. He doesn't even realize they stole anything from him. Nokkers can control a person's body, whether they are alive or dead.

Skills

Fushi can take the form and abilities of anything that has been stimulated. The stronger the stimuli, whether physical or emotional, the more capable he is of changing into that form. However, he can only become a living being after that living being is dead. Furthermore, he cannot become someone he has never seen alive. When he tried to imitate a corpse, he would simply become a corpse and nothing more. Sometimes, when taking a form, he will have injuries that the person had before their death if Fushi witnessed said death. March's form has a bloodstain on his abdomen, while The Unknown Boy's leg is bandaged, and whenever he changes into The Boy's body, he feels hungry, implying that the cause of The Boy's death was hunger. By changing into another living being, you can take on the capabilities of the body you borrowed.

The spectator

He is the creator of Fushi. He has the appearance of a mannequin with smooth, light-colored skin that appears unnatural, with no facial hair, eyebrows, or hair. He wore a long, black cape that seemed to become translucent at the bottom. He takes a very rational approach to the events in the world he watches over. Because of this, he rarely shows emotion or compassion for anyone. Not much is known about him, except that he created Fushi for the purpose of preserving the world. It's also known that he isn't immortal and will die one day. The viewer follows Fushi on his journey and plays more like a spectator than a guide. He can sense where the Knockers are and, sometimes even without being asked, gives Fushi information about their position so he can defeat them.
