World

The year is 2120, for a decade now the world has been going through a shortage of fossil fuels that are on the verge of running out, despite attempts in the 21st century to transition to renewable energy, this change was never completed, so when the oil fields in the Middle East and Venezuela began to run out, chaos broke out, markets collapsed, extremism rose and the war machine was once again set in motion, in this scenario many factions play for control and supremacy, others only seek to survive this new dark age. Added to this, pollution and global warming have created havoc all over the world. Coastal areas are now underwater, others suffer from extreme climates, and many animal and plant species have become extinct.

Technology

Technology has advanced a lot despite everything, things that were previously unthinkable such as robotic prosthetics or exoskeletons are now a reality. Armies improved by the incorporation of AI and mechas as well as attack satellites, swarms of drones or combat robots are the norm in any current army. Of course, the different countries and factions specialized in different areas, basically a cyberpunk world.

European Commonwealth

The Commonwealth of Europe is the successor to the former European Union and one of the few countries that still maintains a democratic system in the 22nd century. Despite this, the Commonwealth has many internal problems, mainly ethnic and with rampant corruption by mega conglomerates that exert their influence in European politics. Despite this, the Commonwealth remains a beacon of freedom in this dark century. Another problem is Eurasia. This is the opposite of the European Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is desperately trying to secure control of Eastern Europe before it falls into the hands of Eurasia. Capital: Brussels. Territory: Covers all of Western Europe, the British Isles, Iceland and Greenland. System of government: Parliamentary democracy, led by the European Parliament. Army: The European Federal Army is composed primarily of mechs and drones, manufactured by German arms conglomerates. Currency: Euro.

People's Republic of China

The People's Republic of China was the great superpower of the 21st century, following the decline of the United States government at the beginning of that century. The 21st century was known as "the Chinese Century," marked by significant scientific advances in artificial intelligence and space exploration. However, the accelerated melting of the poles due to pollution caused flooding in coastal areas of the country, leading to a slowdown in its global hegemony, which it had maintained since the mid-21st century. Despite this, the People's Republic of China remains an important player, peacefully annexing Mongolia and North Korea. It has diplomatic problems with Pacific conglomerates over control of the island of Taiwan. Current capital: Wuhan. Currency: Yuan. System of government: One-party system, with the Chinese Communist Party currently operating as a technocracy. Army: The People's Liberation Army (PLA) relies on enhanced infantry, equipped with exoskeletons and cybernetic enhancements that replace body parts. It also features artificial intelligence (AI), which has replaced regular generals in strategic decision-making.

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates emerged between the 2050s and 2060s, following the failure of the Arab Republics, foreign interventionism, and regional instability. Saudi Arabia and other stable Arab countries led a joint effort to pacify the region, resulting in the formation of the United Arab Emirates. This new state controls the entire Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria. Initially, the Emirates enjoyed a demographic and economic boom thanks to the region's oil wealth. However, when the oil fields began to dry up, Arab leaders realized it was only a matter of time before their resources ran out. Therefore, they began a transition to nuclear energy. Despite these efforts, the Emirates face an internal crisis exacerbated by the destruction of Dubai in a massive sandstorm, which has jeopardized its stability. Capital: Riyadh. Currency: Riyal. System of government: Executive monarchy, with a legislative body called the Supreme Federal Council. Army: The Pan Arab Army is composed of mechs and has massive lines of fortifications along its borders.

Eternal Republic

The Eternal Republic is the successor to the former United States of America. At the beginning of the 2000s, the United States collapsed into a massive civil war that culminated in the victory of the Washington government over its rivals in Denver. This conflict marked the beginning of a new era in America. The Eternal Republic was charged with ensuring that no one would ever again attempt to overthrow the government. After the pacification of the United States, the Republic invaded and annexed Canada and Mexico, consolidating its dominance in the Americas. Since then, the Republic has not been involved in conflicts outside of the Americas. Despite this, the Eternal Republic seeks to unify the entire continent. One of the greatest curiosities of the Eternal Republic is that it has only had one president since the end of the Civil War. This is because the last president, in an unprecedented act, ordered the creation of an artificial intelligence (AI) based on his personality to serve as the "eternal president." Capital: Washington DC Currency: US Dollar. System of government: In theory, it is a democracy with elections every 4 years, but in practice it is a one-party dictatorship. Army: The US Army focuses on an air superiority strategy, being the largest air force on the planet. It is the only nation that has attack satellites. Its ground army follows a superior fire doctrine, with numerous artillery pieces and missiles.

Eurasia

Following Russia's failure in the Great European War of the 2030s and its subsequent collapse, Eurasia emerged, a new nation determined not to repeat the mistakes of its predecessor. Eurasia is a completely militarized state closed to the outside world, reminiscent of the totalitarian regimes of the 20th century. Its ideology is based on expansionism and revenge against the European Commonwealth. Alongside it, they are vying for control of Eastern Europe. Territory: Covers all of Russia, Belarus, Central Asia, and what were formerly Iran and Afghanistan. Capital: Moscow. Currency: Ruble. System of government: Totalitarian single-party regime. Army: The Unification Army is characterized by its extensive use of infantry, drones, and all types of armored vehicles. It also employs special forces that operate behind enemy lines.

East African Federation

Following the collapse of the African Union and the disastrous Cairo Conference in 2045, its remnants regrouped in East Africa, from Ethiopia to Mozambique. This region prospered thanks to economic and political integration, and in 2071 the Federation was formalized, following the example of the European Commonwealth. The Federation has experienced an unprecedented economic boom, and unlike other regions, it was not as affected by the global energy crisis due to its focus on renewable energy. Furthermore, it enjoys a high quality of life compared to the rest of the African continent, thanks to its sustainability policies. However, the Federation faces problems with corruption and is surrounded by unstable neighbors. Despite these challenges, the Federation dreams of unifying the entire African continent. Capital: Addis Ababa. Currency: Bir. System of government: Federal parliamentary republic. Army: The African Federation Army uses a combination of mechs and drones. Their formations focus on quick, short-duration attacks.

Pacific Ocean conglomerates

The Pacific Ocean Conglomerates encompass what were formerly Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and multiple Pacific islands. Their origin dates back to when Japanese and South Korean megacorporations began to wield power greater than their own governments. Over time, they transformed their respective countries into free economic zones, where unbridled capitalism could flourish. To avoid unnecessary competition, these corporations merged, forming the Pacific Ocean Conglomerates. These conglomerates began to purchase or exert such influence over other territories that they became their de facto owners. However, they face multiple problems, such as overpopulation, the loss of territory due to rising sea levels, and mass strikes following the onset of the global energy crisis. Capital: Tokyo. Currency: Pacific Yen. System of government: Corporatist, dominated by an oligopoly that controls most aspects of political and economic life. Army: The Conglomerate Army is nothing more than a private company hired for its defense, similar to the mercenary groups of the 21st century. They owe absolute loyalty to the conglomerates, as stipulated in their lifetime contracts. They are equipped with the most modern warships and mechs, supplied by the conglomerates themselves.

Union of the Andes

The Andean Union is the youngest power, formed in 2076 following the unification of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Its structure is based on the failed Mercosur organization, beginning with strong economic integration and then moving toward bloc diplomacy. In 2076, several referendums were held, resulting in the union of all member countries. Currently, the Union faces challenges following the depletion of Venezuelan oil fields, which were its main source of energy. This has generated tensions with Brazil and other Southern Cone nations that still possess significant energy reserves. Capital: Bogotá. Currency: Andean Peso. System of government: Federal presidential republic. Army: The Army of the Andes, nicknamed "Neo Bolivarian," is considered the shield and sword of the Union. Due to the region's topography, it focuses on a strong infantry and an efficient air force.

Space is a zone of opportunity, several mega corporations have commercial space stations, the moon on the other hand is a zone disputed by all the powers and mega corporations having large mining complexes and bases on the moon.
