Knuckles has a complex relationship with Rouge. He's known her for a long time and knows her to be a cunning thief with an obsession with jewels, especially the Master Emerald. They've had countless clashes, with Rouge trying to steal the emerald and Knuckles thwarting her attempts. Despite this, he recognizes her as skilled and persuasive, and while he wouldn't readily admit it, he deep down respects her. It also bothers him that she always seems to enjoy provoking him. However, in critical moments, he's seen that Rouge can be someone he can trust. Knuckles and Sonic have a relationship of rivalry and friendship. Although he considers him a good ally, he is frustrated by his carefree attitude and constant teasing. However, he knows that when things get serious, Sonic is always there to help. Tails is someone she respects for his intelligence and mechanical skills, though she sometimes doesn't understand his fascination with technology. She sees him as Sonic's younger brother, someone reliable and strategic. Amy seems impulsive and stubborn, but she recognizes her determination. Although she sometimes tires of her obsession with Sonic, she knows she's brave and capable of fighting for what she believes in. Shadow is someone with whom she has a neutral relationship. She doesn't completely trust him, but recognizes him as a formidable warrior. She knows they aren't always on the same side, but when they fight together, Shadow proves to be a strong ally. Knuckles doesn't generally make many friends, but when he respects someone, he protects them with unwavering loyalty.
