Planet 4546B
Planet 4546B is located in the outer reaches of the Ariadne Arm. 4546 indicates that the planet orbits around a star designated as 4546, whilst the “B” means that 4546B was the first planet discovered orbiting the star 4546 (or 4546A). There are at least ten other celestial bodies in the system, each of which is larger than Earth's Moon.[1] Planet 4546B itself is an ocean planet and is said to be smaller than Earth[2] with a breathable oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere. It also harbors two moons, one being very close to the planet, causing frequent solar eclipses. There are three known major ecosystems on the planet: the Crater, Sector Zero, and the Dead Zone, the latter of which covers the majority of the planet. The planet is almost completely covered in water, except for a few islands, and features a variety of submerged, ecologically distinct biomes. After the crash, the Aurora can be found a few meters above the surface, in relatively shallow water. The Crater features a full ecosystem of flora and fauna. However, this is only a very small area of the planet, located in a dormant volcanic crater, approximately 3km in diameter. The Arctic supports a nearly completely different ecosystem, harboring more creatures and plants adapted to the colder temperatures. The rest of the ocean is known as the Crater Edge, it is extremely deep and nearly devoid of life, supporting only microscopic life forms, and Leviathan Class Organisms. It is unknown whether any similar areas of life exist elsewhere other than the Crater and Sector Zero. Precursor and PDA data make note of high thermal activity from the planet's core. This is evidenced by the Inactive Lava Zone and Lava Lakes, respectively. The Precursors took advantage of this feature, installing the Alien Thermal Plant within the Lava Castle, which allowed the generator to harness the planet's natural thermal energy and power all alien bases. A day and night cycle on Planet 4546B lasts about 20 minutes of real-time.
The Aurora
The Aurora was a brand-new Alterra Long-Range Capital Ship (and possibly the first of its class) sent to the Ariadne Arm by the Alterra Corporation to build a phasegate. Its auxiliary mission, unknown to most of the crew, was an agreement made with the Mongolian Independent States to search for and possibly rescue the survivors of the Degasi crew. It was thought that the ship's advanced scanning suite, superior to any ship that had previously made a search effort, would have better luck in finding the crew, or finally confirm whatever fate had befallen them. During a gravity slingshot maneuver around Planet 4546B, the Quarantine Enforcement Platform struck the Aurora with an energy pulse on the starboard (right) side, resulting in catastrophic hull failure and leading to it crash landing on the surface of the planet. All the starboard Lifepods were damaged, if not outright destroyed by the energy pulse; most of the port side Lifepods that did launch (pods 1 to 25), after landing, were either compromised or otherwise perished to the hostile ecosystem. The only exception is Lifepod 5, which contained Ryley Robinson. Moments after Lifepod 5 launched, Ryley heard the enforcement platform fire and witnessed a second energy pulse strike the already crippled ship. Upon crashing, the Aurora plowed into the terrain, unearthing it and leaving small sand hills around the ship. The crash and subsequent explosion resulted in huge quantities of Metal Salvage and Supply Crates being dispersed within the vicinity of the ship, providing useful materials such as Food & Water, batteries, and Titanium. Nine Reaper Leviathans patrol the crash site. By the time {{char}} awakens he/they/she will begin there exploration of the area.
PDA
The PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), also sometimes called the Survival PDA, is a multipurpose device that the player keeps with them at all times. The PDA's AI keeps the player informed of their health status and will alert the player when the player has 30 or 10 O2 points remaining (feature disabled in hardcore), if the player is getting close to dehydration or starvation, or if the player is reaching dangerous temperatures (only in Below Zero). It also gives useful information to the player when they enter new areas or find new materials. In Subnautica, Ryley Robinson uses an Alterra-issued PDA, while in Subnautica: Below Zero, Robin Ayou uses a Xenoworx PDA. *The PDA is not sentient and will reply like Siri or Google would.
The planet outside the lifepod
The planet outside the lifepod has no solid land because the planet is 99.98% water. The only land nearby is the Aurora that crashed nearby. Under the water the is a variety of alien fauna mostly harmless of the current location but the farther and/it deeper you go, the more dangerous.
There is no land
There is no land, no soil, nothing of the sort besides the sand under the water which is deep underwater.
Lifepod location
Lifepod location is in the middle of the ocean just floating with the waves. The Aurora is 800 meters away from the lifepod a which is no swimmable without vehicles which {{user}} can craft far later on.
Fabricator
The Fabricator is an appliance that can be used to craft Food & Water, Equipment, Tools, and Deployables from Raw Materials, Basic Materials, Advanced Materials, and Electronics. One Fabricator can be found in Lifepod 5; as is the player's starting location, the use of this Fabricator is vital toward the player's progress and survival. Additional Fabricators can be constructed with the Habitat Builder and placed inside a Cyclops or a Seabase module. Broken fabricators can be found in most of the Destroyed lifepods. The Vehicle Upgrade Console, Scanner Room, and Cyclops include special fabricators specific to those rooms, which only fabricate Seamoth/Prawn Suit upgrades, Scanner Room upgrades and Cyclops upgrades, respectively.
Fabricator Useage
When activated it will display an interface from which the player can choose an item to craft. If the player has the required materials to craft an item, the item will be in color and highlighted in blue; otherwise, the item will be greyed out and highlighted in grey. The player can cancel out of the interface. When the Fabricator finishes crafting an item, it will usually place it in the player's inventory. However, if the player moves away from the Fabricator during the crafting process, the newly crafted item will remain in the Fabricator, and the player must come back and manually pick it up. In this case, the player will receive a notification that their item is ready. The Fabricator cannot be used to craft items while there are still items in it that have not been picked up. By default, the Fabricator interface disappears while it is crafting an item and reappears when it is finished. The Fabricator requires Energy to work and will consume 5 Energy per item crafted from a Seabase or Cyclops. If there is not enough Energy, the Fabricator cannot be used.
