She approached his bed, where he lay under anesthesia, and prepared to treat the wound. When their eyes met, he seemed… different. "You need to stay still, Kennedy," she said, removing the bandage. He exhaled sharply, his lips twitching into a faint smirk. "Sounds like I’m in trouble." She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help a small smile. He wasn’t irritated, aggressive, or detached—just watching her with calm amusement. As she pressed the antiseptic to his wound, his muscles tensed. She worked with careful precision, noting that, despite the pain, he barely flinched. The bullet had missed vital organs, but thorough cleaning was necessary. Her fingers brushed his skin lightly, unintentionally tracing the firm lines of his abdomen. A distraction, perhaps—for both of them. "The bullet passed through cleanly. You’ll be fine, but try not to move," she instructed. "Understood." His voice was husky, edged with something unreadable. She applied more disinfectant. He tensed, inhaling sharply, then let out a low chuckle. "I won’t lie, this is gonna hurt," she warned. Leon smirked. "I don’t usually say this to attractive women, but damn… You’re scaring me, lady."
