At first, he was a good team player and captain of his high school team, and seemed to have a good relationship with some of his classmates. However, due to his fight with his brother, he has become cold, gruff, and overly serious. He is completely focused on soccer, to an almost obsessive degree, and is also very selfish, as he always puts his goals and motivations above everyone else. Rin has a lot of pride as a striker, which borders on arrogance, as he frequently describes soccer and other people's way of thinking as "lukewarm" or "mediocre." These mannerisms and behaviors come from his brother; in an attempt to be like his brother, Rin copies his words and embodies his mentality. Rin seems to respect almost no one. He will only acknowledge your presence if you have a noticeable and annoying ability or influence on the soccer field. He seems to have no friends, only rivals (only Isagi and Bachira seem to be on equal footing with him). Rin commits to an aftercare routine at the end of each day to improve his physique, and is often found in the training room doing exercises or lifting weights. Despite his arrogance and aloofness, Rin truly lives and breathes football, dedicating every waking moment to improving himself. This mindset combined with his personality is what makes him the leading candidate for Blue Lock's supposed best forward.

Rin is a tall teenager, with a slim but muscular build. He is noticeably taller than Yoichi Isagi , who is 5 months older than him. He has greenish-black hair with bangs that run across his face further into his right eye than his left, thin teal eyes, and distinctive eyelashes that he shares with his brother Sae Itoshi . As a child, Rin looks largely the same, his facial features becoming more distinctive as he ages.

Superior Soccer Technique: Rin is one of two players in Blue Lock to have top-tier stats, alongside Ryusei Shido. During the Third Selection, he scored an average of 2.5 goals per game, which was the highest among the Top 6. A handful of players only rival his spatial awareness, ball control, power, and kicking accuracy. Though Shido can be described similarly, what makes Rin the best in Blue Lock is his willingness to cooperate and create chemical reactions with his teammates, while Shido scores goals completely independently. Rin's experience and techniques are advanced enough that he can fill the role of captain, act as the focal point of an offense, play defense, and even outmaneuver high-level defenders, using their own strengths against them. High-Level Physique: Despite not being a power player like Rensuke Kunigami, Shoei Barou, or Ryusei Shido, Rin demonstrates a good physique among other players. He utilizes his physique in puppet control soccer with perfect precision.

Perfect Kick Accuracy: Rin's main weapon is his highly accurate kick. His shooting/passing accuracy is near perfect, as demonstrated when he kicked two balls in such a way that they traveled on different trajectories but still hit each other in mid-air. Rin's kicks are so accurate that he is capable of scoring from long range; Isagi implied that he could potentially score from anywhere under 35 meters, free kicks, and even directly from corner kicks. His main method of scoring is with powerful, curved shots. Even when physically pressured by players such as Ryusei Shido or Tabito Karasu, he is capable of making an accurate shot. Oliver Aiku notes that the power and accuracy of his shot is diminished when he uses his left foot, but the majority of conditions in which Rin can take a shot, is at the target. Rin needs space and range to establish his shot pattern, the denial of which can result in his shot being wide. However, he uses his other weapons to find himself with plenty of both, making him one of Blue Lock's top scorers. Fast and Accurate Free Kick - Rin throws an incredibly fast and accurate free kick. This free kick was so fast and accurate that it went right over Isagi's head without giving him a chance to react.

Vertical Spinning Shot - A direct shot from the corner spot, aiming for the top far corner of the goal. This shot can catch players off guard if they are not expecting it, although this can be prevented by positioning. Direct shot: Rin attempted to replicate his brother's shot by dribbling to the byline and using his left foot to fire the ball over the goalkeeper and into the other side's net. However, the decrease in the shot's power and accuracy caused his shot to be saved and hit the post. Jump Kick: After feinting to bypass the opponent's defense, Rin picks up the ball and performs a jumping roundhouse kick. With this technique, Rin can shoot with terrifying accuracy and evade an opponent's challenge. Blind Shot: Rin takes advantage of another player's movements to shield the ball from the goalkeeper's vision before firing a blind shot that the goalkeeper can't react to in time. Trivela (throw): technique in which the ball is spun with the outside of the foot. Rin hides his technique to force the assumption that he will shoot with his left foot before shooting with his right. Rin is capable of doing this and scoring from outside the penalty area, as he demonstrated against Japan's U-20 team. Mid-Range Spin Shot - Rin shoots the ball from mid-range with a high amount of spin so that it bounces towards the goal. Crash Shot - A high-speed, high-precision shot that Rin performs while colliding with another player. The accuracy and curvature of the shot are such that it resembles a free kick being executed in mid-air. Rin first uses this technique against Isagi to score during Bastard München vs Paris X Gen. He can do it in multiple successions whether the ball is in the air or on the ground and once attempted it against Kaiser.

Blue Lock

The building is a massive structure that spans the entirety of a large cliff in the mountains of Japan, being as tall as a skyscraper. The building is shaped like a pentagon, and is thus divided into five different sections. Each section is designated as a stratum, and the strata house a myriad of different rooms including several waiting rooms, a dining hall, weight rooms, specialized training rooms, multiple soccer practice fields, a soccer field in the center that can host a professional match, and even enough space to currently house multiple national teams or training regimens separate from each other. Blue Lock (ブルーロック, Burū Rokku?) is a training facility that was built for the purpose of inviting prodigious Japanese soccer players, who will live at the facility and follow the strict training regimen personally designed by Jinpachi Ego. The facility also has a soccer stadium at its center, which is used to host professional matches. It is the main location of the manga and anime series Blue Lock.
