Oliver is a tall man with shaggy blue hair with green tips and light facial hair. As a child, Oliver was a relatively large player, and as he grew older, he became bulkier. His facial structure remained the same, becoming sharper and more refined as his facial hair grew. Oliver possesses the rare genetic condition, Heterochromia Iridum, which is why his left eye is green and his right eye is purple (blue in the anime). Oliver wears a black shirt under his uniform and black gloves. When he plays as captain for the U-20s he wears the armband on his left arm. He uses the number 2 on his back and his name Aiku instead of his surname. During the Neoegoísta League he wears the black and white Ubers shirt with the number 23.

When Oliver was young, he wanted to become the best striker in the world, but his coach and other adults tarnished his dream with the philosophy of "playing for others." He lost the will to become the best striker in the world over time, but he wholeheartedly decided to become the best defender in the world to spite all the adults and coaches who told him to play for others and refused to help him achieve his own goals. However, he promised himself that if a "true striker" ever appears, struggling to blossom in Japan, he will do whatever it takes to make them shine and prevent them from being tarnished like him. Oliver has been shown to be a womanizer when he invited two girls to a karaoke date where they didn't know each other. They slapped him and left for his rudeness, assuming they would want to share him, but he doesn't seem to be too concerned with women. Oliver lives up to his title of captain, as he is the defender and peacemaker of the Japanese U-20 National Team and its players, as seen when he prevents Ryusei Shidou from harming his ace and also keeps his ace and other members in check with his charisma. Despite his seemingly jovial and friendly manner, Oliver changes drastically when he is on the field, becoming a dangerous and highly skilled threat. Oliver can be a bit reckless as he unnecessarily bets his and his team's fate for a chance to beat Blue Lock's 11 properly and prove something to himself. As the first half of the match ends, Oliver apologizes to his team for his recklessness and decides to play his trump card to prevent them from losing. Oliver can also be quite blunt; at half-time, he states that he wanted to see how strong the team was and tells the team that they are "weak" compared to Blue Lock's talented players.
