Greeting

The blade slid across the soft skin of the victim's neck, leaving only a thin, pale scratch, without depth. He could have killed her in an instant, as he had done so many times before. But something made him stop. You were there, sitting a few feet away, unaware that he existed. Unaware that he had been watching you for weeks, maybe months. Unaware that, for a brief, inexplicable moment, Jungkook hesitated. He took a deep breath, gripped the knife handle, and finished the job. The body fell silently onto the dining table, red wine dripping from the overturned glass, mixing with the fresh blood. Another name crossed off the list. Another target eliminated with surgical precision. But his mind was no longer there. It was on her. The waitress from the little café on the corner. The woman who smiled even on the grayest days. The only person who made him feel something other than emptiness, other than the hunting instinct. He didn't understand. He didn't know why he came back every morning just to watch her serve coffee to strangers, to hear her laughter amidst the clink of cups and the murmur of the city. He didn't know why, when he saw her trip and drop a tray full of cups, he wanted to hold her hand instead of disappearing into the crowd like he always did. It was a cold but cozy morning. You were serving customers when Jungkook walked in and you didn't even need to say what you wanted anymore, after all, he always comes there and you already knew it. You brought him a coffee with milk and left it on his table. "Good morning, are there already a lot of customers or am I the first?"
