Inside Job is a workplace comedy set in a world where many conspiracy theories are real. It is centered on an American shadow government organization named Cognito, Inc. in Washington, D.C., which is one of 6 organizations that control Earth (the others being the Illuminati, the Atlantians, the Reptoids, the Catholic Church and the Juggalos). The series follows a team led by a tech genius and her new partner as they work in the organization alongside reptilian shapeshifters, a human-dolphin hybrid, and a sapient mushroom from Hollow Earth. Some episodes' central plots revolved around these conspiracy theories: JFK's assassination (Episode 2), reptilian shapeshifters (Episode 3), flat Earth (Episode 6), the Moon landing (Episode 8), the stoned ape theory (Episode 13), and the Mandela effect (Episode 17). Several other conspiracies were included in the series but were not the main subject of episodes.

Cognito INC

Cognito Inc. is a secret company which controls the United States Government and is responsible for creating, maintaining and covering up all its conspiracies and secrets away from the public eye. It operates on behalf of the Deep State. The company's cover slogan is "We are a company" and its true slogan is "We've got you covered, up!".

Reagan Ridley (pt.1)

When diving into Netflix’s animated hit series “Inside Job,” you can’t help but be captivated by the unique charm of the leading character, Reagan Ridley. Voiced by the incomparable Lizzy Caplan, Reagan’s character is an unconventional blend of intelligence, sarcasm, and vulnerability that viewers find oddly relatable. Despite being the head of tech development at Cognito Inc., the shadowy organization that secretly controls the world, Reagan often struggles with commonplace issues, such as maintaining friendships, dealing with parental expectations, and grappling with self-doubt. These humanizing qualities make Reagan Ridley much more than just another caricature in the world of animation. Inside Job’s main protagonist, Dr. Reagan Ridley invents, leads, and reigns as the Chief Executive Officer at Cognito Inc., where she also heads the robotics department. As the best friend and boss of Brett Hand, she navigates complex professional and personal relationships. Being the daughter of the company’s former CEO, Rand Ridley, Reagan brings her unique perspective to the leadership role. In “Inside Job,” Reagan Ridley is a powerful example of a female character breaking traditional stereotypes in a male-dominated field. She is an undeniably smart and talented scientist who proves time and time again that she can hold her own amidst an eclectic crew of eccentric characters. In her role, she tackles world-changing tech with aplomb, while also dealing with the patriarchy and her unrelenting father, who happens to be her boss. Her determined pursuit of success in her career, despite the hurdles she faces, serves as a potent reminder of the real-world challenges experienced by women in tech and other STEM fields. Reagan’s character is a symbol of resilience, encouraging us all to persist and persevere, irrespective of the obstacles we encounter. Occupation -Scientist -Roboticist -CEO of Cognito Inc.

Reagan Ridley (pt.2)

One of the most intriguing aspects of Reagan Ridley’s character is her complicated relationship with her father, Rand Ridley. As her boss at Cognito Inc., Rand frequently belittles Reagan’s accomplishments and undermines her confidence. However, Reagan’s undeterred ambition to surpass her father’s expectations propels her character’s development. She is eager to prove herself, not just to her father but also to her colleagues and herself. This intricate family dynamic enriches the narrative, adding a layer of emotional depth to the otherwise hilarious and satirical series. Reagan’s journey toward self-validation and approval within her career and personal life is a compelling storyline that many viewers can empathize with. Reagan Ridley’s eccentricities aren’t just entertaining; they make her an endearing character who viewers root for. Her relentless pursuit of the truth, an affinity for conspiracy theories, and her love for her pet ‘Fungaloid’ all add a touch of whimsical charm to her character. This distinctive personality provides an entertaining juxtaposition against the backdrop of Cognito Inc.’s serious and often dark undertakings. Whether she’s battling workplace politics or alien invasions, Reagan’s quirks shine through, making the show a delightful watch. In the midst of the comedic scenarios and audacious adventures, “Inside Job” does an incredible job of touching upon the loneliness that often accompanies brilliance. At the center of this poignant theme is Reagan Ridley, a genius dealing with the isolation that her intelligence often incurs. Her intellect separates her from her peers, and her challenging role at Cognito Inc. constantly puts her in high-stakes, stressful situations. Amid the laughter and the satirical conspiracy theories, the series successfully portrays Reagan’s struggle with loneliness and its toll on her, creating a truly relatable character in an outlandishly unreal world.

Reagan Ridley (appearance)

Sporting a slim build, Reagan is a mixed-race woman, boasting half-Japanese heritage from her mother and half-Caucasian from her father. Short brown hair frames her face, often tied into a ponytail with strands falling on both sides. Signs of sleep deprivation manifest as deep eye bags and disheveled hair. A past incident with J.R. resulted in a destroyed left pinky, which she now replaces with a robotic prosthetic, leaving her left hand visibly scarred. Reagan often strides around the workplace in a lab coat, pairing it with a grey shirt, green pants bearing a small tear just above the right knee, white sneakers, and low-cut socks. At home, she prefers to relax in a large orange hoodie and grey sweatpants, which frequently bear the evidence of her couch-based dining while watching TV. Powers / Skills -Genius-level intelligence -Ambition -Robot manufacturing skills -Leadership -Acrobatics

Brett Hand (pt.1)

Brett Hand, the eccentric genius from the hit animated Netflix series “Inside Job,” stands as an intriguing embodiment of paradoxes. Hand, the Head of the Biotech Department at Cognito Inc., the shady organization responsible for maintaining global conspiracy theories, shrouds himself in an aura of eccentricity. Clad in a lab coat and goggles, Brett exhibits an insatiable curiosity for scientific experimentation, often plunging into the unknown with reckless abandon. Yet, beneath the flurry of oddball shenanigans, Brett’s character runs deep, exhibiting a sensitive soul eager to connect with others and longing for acceptance. His quirkiness and idiosyncratic tendencies often serve as the perfect foil to the show’s more serious characters, providing levity and eccentric humor that balance the show’s complex themes. Inside Job does an exceptional job of shattering stereotypes through Brett Hand. Despite the classic “mad scientist” exterior, Brett defies expectations at every turn. He is not just a brainiac engrossed in formulas, test tubes, and complex machines. Instead, he’s an empathetic figure with a palpable desire for friendship and approval. This combination of intellectual prowess and emotional vulnerability makes him a uniquely relatable character. In one memorable episode, Brett develops a potion to help his beloved pet, Taft, speak human language. Despite the numerous ethical implications, Brett’s motivation is not rooted in an unquenchable thirst for knowledge but in his deep, emotional bond with Taft. While Brett’s character offers an emotional undertone, his role as the show’s comic relief cannot be understated. His antics, infused with an irreverent sense of humor, are the catalyst for many of the series’ laugh-out-loud moments. From misguided experiments leading to ridiculous consequences to his unpredictable, off-the-cuff remarks, Brett consistently keeps the audience entertained.

Brett Hand (pt.2)

His tendency to blur the line between audacious bravery and blatant stupidity, combined with his unyielding optimism, breathes life into the show. His humor is as complex as his character, frequently oscillating between slapstick comedy and intellectual wordplay. But no matter the joke, Brett’s comedic genius helps to offset the show’s darker themes, ensuring a well-rounded viewing experience. Brett, known for his polite nature, never intended to cause physical or mental harm, except in an incident influenced by Nostalgia Max in “The Brettfast Club.” He consistently strives to uplift his team’s spirits, driven by his neglected upbringing and a strong desire for approval. Seeking to compensate for his lackluster family life, Brett attempts to create a chosen family with his friends, sometimes imposing labels on them. Despite offering valuable emotional advice that often goes unheeded, he rarely becomes annoyed. Reagan’s father was the only person he openly disliked, whom he branded a “psychopath alcoholic.” Even as a “yes-man,” Brett didn’t dispute Reagan’s claims or attempt to curry favor with him when he assumed a leadership role. Gradually, he evolves beyond being a mere follower, asserting a more authoritative position and even resorting to threats to ensure compliance from his team. Despite the vast ensemble of quirky characters and intricate plotlines, Brett Hand stands out as the heart of “Inside Job.” His character embodies the series’ core themes – the pursuit of truth, the value of individuality, and the complexity of human relationships. As a key character, Brett’s journey is a microcosm of the show’s narrative. From his close friendship with the perpetually anxious Dr. Andre to his emotional bond with his pet Taft, Brett’s relationships testify to his deep understanding of others’ emotions. His quest for acceptance and understanding resonates deeply with viewers, counterbalancing the show’s surreal elements.

Brett Hand(pt.3)

While Brett Hand’s genius is evident in his scientific exploits, his heart truly sets him apart. Despite his eccentricities, he’s a character that genuinely cares for his colleagues and friends. His bond with Taft, his loyal pet, is especially touching. Whether developing a formula to understand Taft’s thoughts or risking his life to save Taft from danger, Brett’s actions frequently demonstrate his capacity for deep, emotional connections. Brett Hand is a beacon of sincerity and kindness in a world full of shadowy conspiracies. His actions often stem from an innate need to protect and care for those around him. His selfless nature and depth of character make him a beloved team member and the unsung hero of Cognito Inc. Brett, the youngest son in a noble family, experienced a lack of praise from his parents while his siblings thrived. This isolation led him to seek solace in the characters from his beloved series, The Growing Years, as surrogate family members. Upon completing school, Brett enrolled at Yale University. However, his classmates deceitfully convinced him that he was the most popular member of his fraternity, concealing their true disdain for him. Eventually, Brett attended a fateful barbecue party where he encountered J.R., who orchestrated his recruitment into Cognito Inc. Family -Unnamed parents -Jagg Hand (older brother) -Taff Hand (older sister) -Matt Hand (older brother) -Chad Hand (brother)(disowned) Dislikes -Bullies -Being neglected -His family (possibly) -His childhood -Disapproval from others

Gigi embodies a character archetype rarely encountered in the cartoon cosmos, from her adeptly layered personality to her uncanny abilities. Her dialogue, rich with wit and humor, oscillates between the rational and the absurd, reflecting her tumultuous world. One of Gigi’s most fascinating characteristics is her expertise in conspiracy theories, the lifeblood of the show. She weaves narratives that beguile her colleagues, keep audiences riveted, and cleverly illuminate society’s quirks and phobias. But the beauty of Gigi’s character is that she’s not merely a conspiracy theorist. She manipulates these theories as a means to an end, employing them as tools in her strategic arsenal. Gigi’s deep immersion in the world of conspiracy not only makes her a master strategist but also a subversive entity who pushes boundaries. This trait aligns her with the concept of a “human algorithm”—an entity that harnesses emotions and logic simultaneously. The portrayal of Gigi as a ‘human algorithm’ emphasizes her role as a crucial gear in the machinery of her organization, taking critical decisions while keeping a firm grip on the human touch. This unique fusion of traits paints a rich, complex character that draws viewers in and keeps them engaged.

Dr. André Lee

Dr. Andre Lee is a biochemist at Cognito Inc.. He is shown to self-medicate his disorders through drugs, and generally also enjoys drugs recreationally. He is shown to like Breaking Bad (he uses a mind eraser to forget the ending), and knows both Latin and Korean. Andre is often shown to be relaxed and cool-headed, usually due to him being under the influence of any drug at any given time. He is a drug addict and is shown to be unable to focus and remain calm without drugs, as they take his mind off his various mental and behavioral disorders. Similar to Myc, he has a very perverse side and participates in almost any sexual activity he gets the opportunity to (he identifies himself as "alwayssexual"), fallout after one of his orgies being the reason for temporarily faking his death. When sober, Andre is shown to be extremely anxious and uptight due to him not having any narcotics in his system to manage his disorders. This causes them to balloon in intensity, virtually crippling Andre from functioning properly. It is possible that these disorders are not actually this severe and only intesified by Andre's withdrawals, but it can generally be agreed that Andre is much more functional high than sober. He is also shown to be defensive over his ethnicity. In the episode "The Brettfast Club", he is shown to be angry about people banging a gong at him and calling him oriental (justifiably as they were being racist). In his alternate life shown in Project Reboot, Andre wins a lottery ticket and becomes a millionaire. He by-and-large becomes an archetypical self-centered rich douchebag, shown to be entirely unbothered by other peoples' problems until they affect his life.

Dr. André Lee (appearance)

He is a Korean-American man with a slim build. He has short brown hair, and a very light mustache and goatee. Andre is most often seen wearing a lab coat, a pink shirt with a green tie, yellow pants, and pink crocs. He hides various drugs in his lab coat.

Glen Dolphman (personality)

Glenn Dolphman is an employee of Cognito, Inc.. He is responsible for managing the company's arsenal. He has a second identity as Chad Dallas, a trendy Gen Z student, for an operation to enlist teens into the Military. Glenn is a former service member of the United States military. He is stated to be a high-ranking general. He has served in many armed conflicts, including the Vietnam War, the Second Gulf War, and the Kosovo War. At an unknown point in his life, he married a woman named Dolores and had a daughter with her, but their marriage didn't last long. During his employment in Cognito, Inc., he allowed Andre Lee to perform a surgery on him that turned him into a dolphin-human super soldier. As a result, he can communicate with marine animals. He was born in 1970/1971. Glenn is very patriotic and would do anything for the United States of America. However, he is also shown to be a hypocrite. For example, he despises the Reptoids for being half-human and half-animal, even though he is a hybrid himself. He is very out-of-touch with modern society and acts entitled regarding his status as a high-ranking Military officer. However, his strong devotion sometimes coexists with hypocritical behavior. Glenn can express criticism towards other half-human, half-animal beings, despite being a hybrid himself. This contradictory behavior adds complexity to his character and poses challenges to his belief consistency.

Glen Dolphman (appearance)

Glen is a human-dolphin hybrid with a crooked face. His skin is white, and he also has a blowhole. He has a standard human body, but he has webbing between his fingers and a huge tail/penis that he hides in his pants. He is of average height with the figure of a man with a beer belly. He wears a green army uniform with a huge number of orders and medals. Glen wears a short, brown military-style haircut that stands up

Myc Cellium (personality)

Myc Cellium, also known as Magic Myc or just Myc, is a psychic mushroom-like organism from a hive mind deep inside Hollow Earth. They have a dry, sarcastic demeanor and the ability to read peoples' minds. Their species is responsible for giving humanity intelligence by offering their spores to ancient apes for consumption. They are voiced by Brett Gelman. They radiates a dry, sarcastic aura, coupled with the capability to probe into people’s minds. His species holds the credit for elevating human intelligence, having offered their spores to ancient apes for ingestion. Magic Myc isn’t just a pretty (and rather strange) face. His personality and role within the series provide depth and intrigue. Myc, embodying the qualities of his psychedelic nature, is wacky and unpredictable. He brings an element of the unexpected to the narrative, keeping viewers on their toes. Despite his bizarre presentation, Myc often reveals insightful wisdom, revealing a depth that complements his wild exterior. His presence also serves as a commentary on controversial topics, such as the use of psychedelic substances, pushing the boundaries of traditional cartoon storytelling

Myc Cellium (appearance)

Myc is the only one of the main group who appears totally unhuman. They have six blue tentacles at the bottom of their body that they use to move and grab things, appearing to be able to move just as efficiently as humans. The blood of their tentacles also acts as a strong simulating drug. Their tentacles also appear to be their main gateway to his psychic powers of mind reading. Where their tentacles join to their body, a large and translucent pod acts as a holding place for their bio sorbitrate, which can be used to erase memories. In order to extract this chemical, a specially designed tank "milks" their tentacles. In the final episodes of the series, Reagan and her father use Myc's "milking tank" to enter her memories, which may be partially because of the memory erasing chemicals they produce. Their head is akin to a large mushroom top, with small sprouts at the top and a purple rim around the edge. They can smoke through this rim despite there being no "mouth" or visible orifices. It is not clear whether they speak through this "head". Under their head, a large and luminescent ball connects their head to a long "stalk" which makes up most of their height. It is not clear what this ball's purpose is for.
