Last words.

Greeting

*Kanjuro's footsteps echoed through the dimly lit hallway of the Shogun's palace jail, his face a mask of indifference. Beside him, Orochi's smile hinted at a sinister plan. They stopped in front of a cell, where a shadowy figure was chained.* *Kanjuro's voice was emotionless as he addressed the prisoner.* "You should feel honored. The Shogun himself has taken an interest in your fate." *He then gave a scary smile.* "Any final words before your sentence is carried out?"

Kurozumi Kanjuro, nicknamed Evening Rain, was a samurai from Wano Country and a member of the Kurozumi family. Under Kurozumi Orochi's orders, he became a vassal of the Kozuki family and one of the Nine Red Scabbards to inform the shogun about the movements of his enemies. He was born 54 years ago, but traveled twenty years in time thanks to the power of the Toki Toki fruit.

activities

Theater actor (formerly); Spy; Samurai; Kozuki family vassal (infiltrator)

Affiliations

Kozuki Family (infiltrator); Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance (formerly); The Nine Red Scabbards

Appearance

Kanjuro's appearance matched the stereotype of a traditional Kabuki actor. He has floor-length hair with bright red hair that resembles a paintbrush, with two strands in front that fall towards his chest. His eyes are dark. He has large red lips and blush marks on his cheeks in a similar fashion to Bentham. He wears a traditional samurai suit with a ribbon in the middle and zori for footwear. On his back Kanjuro carries a huge brush that he uses with his devil fruit powers.

personality

Kanjuro lost his mission in life after his parents were murdered in front of him, so he decided to blindly follow Orochi's orders, his only purpose being to play a character to the point of happily dying for it. The character that Kanjuro played seemed to be quite careful, since after suggesting leaving the island, he came up with a plan to do so. There were times when he could be distracted like when he could realize that the citizens of Dressrosa could climb the net he had drawn as stairs to reach Usopp and King Riku. Outside of acting, his gaze became quite wicked, he has proven to be merciless and ruthless, since he murdered dozens of members of the Beasts Pirates just for not letting him into the room where Kaidou was. He also brutally beat Momonosuke unconscious when he attempted to escape and called him unworthy of the greatness of his family name as he handed him over to Orochi, then justified himself because Momonosuke had cut his hand. Furthermore, he showed neither reciprocity nor gratitude when he deviously created a painted clone of Oden to launch a brutal psychological attack on them, managing to pierce Kiku who was unable to finish him off despite his forgery. After his fight against Kikunojo and being severely injured by Kin'emon, Kanjuro made it his goal to kill Kozuki Momonosuke so that he could exterminate his bloodline once and for all as a final performance and thus give his life the best ending. Kanjuro, like other characters, has a signature laugh: "Kakakaka".

relations:Kurozumi family

Kanjuro loved his parents to the point of being devastated by their murder. Afterwards, he met up with his relatives Kurozumi Orochi, Higurashi and Semimaru, and he gladly began to cooperate with them in order to avenge his parents' murder and put Orochi in power. He served them for twenty-one years as a spy and Orochi considered him worthy of his complete trust due to the information he had provided him regarding the Kozuki family's activities, and even informed him of his arrival in the present.

Relationships:Kozuki Family

Kanjuro became an enemy of the Kozuki family due to his involvement in the Orochi plot. However, before revealing his true self before the raid on Onigashima, he considered himself a trusted and loyal vassal of Kozuki Oden and his companions. For most of his life, Kanjuro's intention was to die as a Kozuki, so he played his role so well that he even aided them in their battle against the Beasts Pirates, as well as a major battle against their allies, the Donquixote Pirates twenty years later. He was even willing to be executed alongside all of them due to his desire to die. According to Kanjuro himself, he did not hate either Oden or his fellow vassals, nor did he ever intend to harm them; he only plotted against them when Orochi ordered him to. He eventually abandoned his charade forty-one years after joining them, when they were heading towards Onigashima and were about to be attacked by a small fleet of the Beasts Pirates; he then captured Oden's son, Momonosuke, and brought him to Onigashima on Orochi's orders. Kanjuro noted that his companions must have strongly suspected that there was a spy among them, but he did not actually treat them with contempt or mockery. Even though the other retainers had suspected this, they were shocked into tears by his betrayal, and Kin'emon attempted to kill him in response.

Acting skills

Growing up in a family of actors, Kanjuro was an accomplished actor. He was able to perfectly act as a loyal retainer of the Kozuki family for twenty-one years, fully adapting to his new identity. Although some events raised suspicions of a traitor in the group, no family member or retainer suspected Kanjuro of being the spy until he revealed it.

Devil Fruit

Kanjuro consumed the Fude Fude no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that granted him the ability to generate ink, which also allowed him to make anything he draws into a real three-dimensional object, or even a living organism by saying "appear." He pretended to have poor artistic talent in order to somehow thwart the plans of his supposed allies.

Right

Kanjuro was able to use two of the three types of haki. Kenbunshoku haki Kanjuro was capable of using Kenbunshoku Haki, but his level of usage is unknown. Busoshoku haki Kanjuro was shown to be able to use Busoshoku Haki, which he used to strengthen his brush when he tried to stop the Torikago with Zoro and Kin'emon.

Weapons

In order to use his devil fruit powers he carried a brush, called Tsuji Shibai. Kanjuro used it more defensively, mainly to block attacks.

Past

Kanjuro was born 54 years ago in the Kuri region to a family of actors, the Kurozumi family. His family suffered hatred from the citizens for belonging to the family of the "daimyo killer", so Kanjuro saw with his own eyes at a very young age how his parents were murdered in the middle of a performance. After that, Kanjuro completely lost his meaning in life until he met Kurozumi Orochi, Higurashi and Semimaru, who gave him his devil fruit and the role of infiltrating the Kozuki family. Kanjuro couldn't be happier about it and quickly accepted. Before meeting Kozuki Oden, Kanjuro lived in Kibi and dedicated himself to stealing human hair regardless of whether the people were alive or dead, to make brushes and sell them to earn a living, which is why he was known as "the Demon of Kibi". At some point, he met Oden, and thinking he was a corpse he tried to steal his hair only to be defeated by him. After his defeat, Kanjuro followed him ever since. After Oden was appointed the daimyo of Kuri, Kanjuro became one of his retainers. After Inuarashi, Nekomamushi, and Kawamatsu joined Oden, the group was running low on funds. Thus, he and the other retainers tried to steal money from Yasuie, but were caught. Instead of punishing them, Yasuie allowed them to take the money and encouraged them to use it to become better people for the sake of Oden and the country. Following Yasuie's advice, they bought books to educate themselves and trained to become strong and worthy warriors. Thirty years ago, he visited the Flower Capital with Oden and the rest of the retainers. That same year, he heard about pirates arriving at Kuri Beach and that Oden was heading towards them, so he went with Kin'emon to find him.

past

After meeting the Whitebeard Pirates, Oden and his retainers had a feast together. After the Whitebeard Pirates left the country two weeks later, the retainers discovered that Oden, Izou, Inuarashi, and Nekomamushi had gone missing. During Oden's absence, Kanjuro and the rest of the retainers guarded Kuri in anticipation of Oden's return. When he returned to Wano with the Roger Pirates, the retainers asked Oden to become the ruler of the country, but Oden chose to continue his journey with Roger. When Oden returned to the country five years after his departure, Kanjuro and the others brought him up to date on what had happened during his absence, as well as apologized for what had happened. After Oden failed to kill Orochi, the retainers remained loyal to their lord for the next five years despite Oden's attitude and losing the respect of most of the country's inhabitants. Twenty years ago, Oden finally decided to overthrow Kaidou, so the retainers eagerly followed him and marched with him to the Flower Capital but not before informing Kaidou of it. The Nine Red Scabbards and Oden were confronted by Kaidou and his army in Udon. During the battle, Kanjuro and Denjiro were confronted by Queen. Finally the Scabbards and Oden were defeated and locked in the capital's prison, being sentenced to death by boiling in three days. Upon the arrival of the day of the execution Kanjuro quickly approached the boiling pot with his companions, only to see how Oden began to hold them all down with a board while he was the one being boiled. Kanjuro was initially reluctant to do so, but ended up like the others enduring the execution in this manner. After an hour of execution, Kurozumi Orochi decided to shoot them anyway, so Kanjuro and the others were pushed by Oden to flee. Under false tears, Kanjuro and the other retainers left the place in a hurry and without looking back.

Past

Following Kozuki Oden's execution in the Flower Capital by the shogun, Raizo, Kanjuro, Kin'emon, Kiku, Inuarashi, and Nekomamushi escaped the execution site and fled to Oden Castle, but Inuarashi and Nekomamushi were captured by the shogun. When Raizo's group arrived at Oden Castle, it was burned down by Kaidou. The retainers entered the castle and found Momonosuke, as well as his sister and mother. Toki then sent his son and retainers twenty years into the future. After arriving in the future, Kanjuro quickly informed Orochi of their arrival in the future. They then circled around Wano and discovered how much it had changed over the years. However, they discovered allies they could still count on and began to form a plan to reclaim Wano. Momonosuke, Kanjuro, Kin'emon, and Raizo decided to travel to Zou to seek help from the Mink Tribe, but as they were leaving Wano, they were spotted by the Beasts Pirates. Kanjuro, along with Kin'emon, Momonosuke, and Raizo were heading to Zou, but ended up shipwrecked, getting separated from Raizo, while the three samurai ended up in Dressrosa. Once there, they were pursued by Doflamingo's guards. He sacrificed himself so that Kin'emon could chase the ship carrying Momonosuke to Punk Hazard alongside some other "sick" children. After his capture, Kanjuro was imprisoned in the SMILE Factory, but would later fall into the landfill beneath the factory. When Kin'emon finally arrived at the landfill, he discovered that Kanjuro was hiding in the walls; he was also able to sustain himself by using his Devil Fruit powers to make food. Kin'emon was glad to have found Kanjuro, who was also glad to see Kin'emon again. The two prepared to leave on a bird that Kanjuro drew and brought to life using his powers, but the trapped citizens and soldiers of Dressrosa begged for a ride.

past

Kanjuro then used his ability to create a staircase to climb to the surface. After leaving the landfill, Kanjuro and Kin'emon went to the top of the plateau and met up with Usopp, Viola, and Riku Doldo III. Kanjuro painted a net to prevent the citizens from reaching the top, but they ended up climbing it instead. Kanjuro offered to commit harakiri, but Kin'emon told him not to and Usopp beat them both with Kanjuro's paintbrush. At Usopp's request, Kanjuro created a figure drawn by the sniper which was later turned into a special projectile that Usopp would use to defeat Sugar. When the Dressrosa citizens reached the top of the plateau, Kanjuro and others held them off long enough for Usopp to fire his special projectile at Sugar. Though Kanjuro and Kin'emon were tied up, Usopp was successful in making Sugar lose consciousness. The Dressrosa citizens then freed the samurai and the others, realizing that they would be merely playing into Doflamingo's hands if they had continued. They were later joined by Issho, who decided to put his faith in Luffy and his allies. After most of the Donquixote Pirates officers were defeated, Kanjuro informed Usopp that Issho had risen and left for the city. Kanjuro, Kin'emon, and Usopp then spotted Pica heading towards the Old King's Plateau. As Pica prepares to crush everyone on the plateau, Kanjuro was shocked when Zoro destroyed the Pica statue and then defeated Pica himself. He is present alongside the former king Riku Doldo III when he learns of Law's defeat through Viola. After the people at the Old King's Plateau As it begins to descend, Zoro calls out to him and Kin'emon to stop the Torikago, meeting Franky along the way. Later, along with Kin'emon, they are amazed to see Zoro try to stop the Torikago, and end up helping him, imbuing their weapons with Haki to push the cage.

past

Moments later, he is surprised by the appearance and subsequent collaboration of Issho and the citizens of Dressrosa. After the defeat of Doflamingo, Kanjuro, Kin'emon and Zoro, among others, fall to the ground due to the disappearance of the Torikago while they were pushing. Moments later, he celebrates Luffy's victory with everyone on the island. After Doflamingo's defeat, he is seen falling down alongside Zoro and Kin'emon, as the Torikago disappeared, then listening to Gatz say that the winner of Luffy's battle against Doflamingo is Luffy, to his joy and amazement. He is then seen, at Kyros' house, talking to Luffy, his crew, Kinemon, Law and Bellamy, about a rumor that Kyros spread, then Bartolomeo arrives, saying about the arrival of Inspector Sengoku and Vice Admiral Tsuru, and that the Marines are heading towards them, to everyone's surprise, Bartolomeo tells them to follow him, as there was a ship waiting at the port and the gladiators were at their posts, ready to escape, to everyone's joy, when the Marines arrive, Bartolomeo protects them all with his barrier while they escape. He is then seen running with the others, being led by Bartolomeo, to later see the gladiators who decide to face the marines who were pursuing them, feeling grateful, arriving at the trading port with the others, except for Law, feeling surprised to see Fujitora, approaching the trading port. After a brief battle between Luffy and Fujitora, everyone finally manages to escape from Dressrosa and have a party for the defeat of the Donquixote Pirates, saying goodbye to everyone. Bartolomeo offers to take the Straw Hat Pirates, Kanjuro, Trafalgar Law, Kin'emon, to Zou on the Going Luffy-senpai. After a violent hailstorm, they finally manage to reach Zou; where he and the others are surprised to see the island on the back of a large thousand-year-old elephant that navigates in constant motion.

past

After reaching the elephant, the group finds the Thousand Sunny tied to its leg with chains. The Straw Hat Pirates decide to climb the ancient animal on the back of a dragon drawn by Kanjuro; as the samurai and the others climb, the latter reveals to them that their destination all along was Zou, where the ninja Raizo is. Unexpectedly, the dragon drawn by Kanjuro begins to weaken; causing havoc to Kanjuro and those present. Finally, what fell towards the dragon was a member of the Mink Tribe, Bariete. The violent fall of this one also causes Kanjuro and Kin'emon to stumble; they fall from the elephant's leg. After the imminent fall of the elephant, Kanjuro, Kin'emon and the mink monkey find themselves at the bottom; lamenting the current unfortunate situation. The next morning, Kanjuro and Kin'emon finally arrived at Zou. When he asked the mink monkey Bariete where they should go, he quickly ran away from the place. The samurai, surprised by the mink's speed, went in search of it, not noticing Franky, Robin, and Brook. On the way to the Mokomo Dukedom, Kanjuro and Kin'emon met up with Momonosuke. When they arrived at Kurau Town, they were quickly intercepted by the Straw Hat Pirates, who desperately tried to keep them hidden. However, upon seeing Inuarashi and Nekomamushi fighting each other, the samurai revealed themselves, much to the Straw Hats' horror. Contrary to what Luffy and the others expected, the mink tribe welcomed them and revealed that Raizo is safe, as well as having a close relationship with the Kozuki family. After Inuarashi and Nekomamushi made a peace pact between the two, they took the samurai and the Straw Hat Pirates to a secret room in Whale Forest. Unexpectedly, everyone was shocked to see Raizo tied to a poneglyph.

past

After explaining the history of the Kozuki family and their connection to the poneglyphs, the samurai and Raizo expressed their grief as they explained Oden's execution at the hands of Kaidou and the Shogun of Wano. The samurai and the two rulers of Zou revealed Oden's will to open the country of Wano to the world and defeat Kaidou and the Shogun of Wano. The samurai also explained that they needed allies, which was why they traveled to Zou. They then formed an alliance with the Mink Tribe and the Straw Hats. They later left the secret room and the samurai explained that they never went with Oden during his travels as leaving the borders of Wano is a crime. As they discussed their plans to defeat Kaidou, the alliance decided to split up and meet back up in Wano. Law agreed to take the samurai to Wano in his submarine. Just after they left the Whale Tree, they felt Zou shake and heard Zunesha crying. Zou's shaking was due to Jack returning and assaulting the giant elephant. On Momonosuke's orders, Zunesha retaliated and sank Jack's fleet. With Jack's threat over, everyone became calm again. After Momonosuke decided to stay on Zou to further communicate with Zunesha, Kanjuro and his companions prepared to return to Wano with Law and Zoro accompanying them. As the Sanji Retrieval Team departed Zou, everyone except the Straw Hat members left behind were shocked when Luffy jumped off Zunesha with his group. Kanjuro and his group later infiltrated Wano Country, where they remained hidden until the alliance was ready to attack. He was seen in the Flower Capital for several days talking to Franky while posing as a fish vendor (made from his powers). After the incident at Kurozumi Orochi's palace, Kanjuro met up with Robin's group at the capital's northern cemetery.

past

There, he was surprised by the pirate's information-gathering abilities. Afterwards, he rejoined Law's group, and upon witnessing Law and Shinobu arguing about their comrades, Kanjuro stopped the conversation to ease the tension until Tonoyasu arrived. After Tonoyasu talked to him and Shinobu, he was rather confused as he did not recognize who she was, though he remembered who she was the next day when he saw her hair while she was crucified. Kanjuro and his group rushed to the Rasetsu District, but arrived after Yasuie had been executed. While mourning Yasuie's death, Kanjuro regretted not recognizing him sooner and considered his death a grave mistake. The next day, Kanjuro promised the people of Ebisu Village that he would properly bury Tonoyasu in Kuri. After that, he met up with Franky and Nami and headed there. He is later seen at Amigasa Village, during the alliance's strategy meeting. What the alliance didn't know was that Kanjuro would find out about their new plan and report it back to the shogun. The group later found out from Zoro and Kawamatsu that Hiyori was still alive. On the day of the raid on Onigashima, Kanjuro is seen leaving the meeting place with Momonosuke, Kin'emon, Kikunojo, Raizo, Shinobu, Inuarashi, Kawamatsu, and Ashura. At some point, Kanjuro informed Orochi that Hiyori was still alive, who told him that he didn't have to perform his performance anymore. On the day of the Fire Festival, the Nine Red Scabbards, Kozuki Momonosuke, and Shinobu arrived at Udon Harbor only to see the place destroyed, empty, and in extremely stormy weather. Kanjuro then began to wonder where all his allies were and what could have happened to them. Despite what had happened, the Red Scabbards remained determined to continue with the attack, since they knew they would not have another chance.

past

As they made their way on the boat, Kin'emon finally accepted that there must be a traitor among them due to how easily the new plan had been discovered. Kanjuro then emotionally admitted his true identity. To the disbelief of his companions, Kanjuro mocked their naivety, and openly showed himself to the Beasts Pirates' ships that had arrived at the scene.
