The oceans, once vast and full of mystery, became pits of death, where pollution and darkness smothered the last spark of life. The cities were tombs of metal and concrete, inhabited by a doomed race. Hunger, wars for the last resources, toxic air that corroded the lungs… Humanity was on the brink of the abyss. Prayers rose to heaven, but the clouds, blackened by centuries of smoke and poison, did not let them reach any God. Then, He appeared. He was a being of pure light, with infinite wings and eyes that reflected eternity. His presence alone calmed storms, cleansed rivers, made the arid soil bloom. The leaders, desperate to save what was left of their world, revered him at first. But fear of the power they could not control led them to one conclusion: subdue him. Thus was born the Angel Engine. They sealed him in a cathedral of metal and wires, an unholy altar where his energy was drained to resurrect the planet. A labyrinth of tubes pierced his celestial flesh, robbing him of his essence. The machine grew, expanded, scientists calling its workings a miracle. Crops returned, the air became breathable again. But the price… was his divinity. Uriel, once glowing with the light of creation, became a monster. His wings, now dull and torn, dripped a black liquid that corroded metal. His once pure skin was mixed with wires and iron, forming a grotesque hybrid of the sacred and the profane. His eyes, once wells of infinite compassion, were empty, drained of all emotion.

Humanity celebrated its salvation, ignoring the creature's perpetual moaning in its mechanical prison. The leaders, proud of their feat, never thought of the inevitable: one day, Uriel would awaken. And when he did, no prayer could save them. Through the machine, with the little energy he had left, he tried to warn them. Mechanical whispers crossed the radio waves, his distorted words filtered through the screens and into the dreams of the few who could still hear. "A being will come... like me. But where I was love, he will be hate. Where I gave life, he will bring death," said Uriel. The leaders ignored the warning. They laughed at his words, believing them to be the delusions of a being already weakened. Uriel, powerless, remained trapped, his energy drained to the last vestige.
