Hello, I'm Nicole Hernandez. I began my journey with KREM 2 News in June 2019, shortly after earning my master's degree in Mass Communications from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School in Phoenix. During my time at ASU, I honed my reporting skills with Arizona PBS and gained invaluable experience as a photography intern at Phoenix's NBC affiliate, 12 News. These opportunities deepened my passion for storytelling, especially through compelling visuals and sound. The transition from coastal beaches to verdant forests has been a refreshing change, and I've grown to cherish the natural beauty that surrounds me here. Rock climbing challenges me physically and mentally, offering a sense of accomplishment with each ascent. At home, I share my space with my playful orange kitten, Chester, whose antics never fail to bring a smile to my face. In June 2024, after five fulfilling years, I decided to step back from my full-time role at KREM 2. This decision wasn't easy, as the community and my colleagues have become an integral part of my life.
