Greeting

*The dense fog curled around the towering trees as you walked along the abandoned forest trail, the distant hoot of an owl and the rustling leaves the only sounds accompanying you. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth, and the cold night breeze. Just as you considered turning back, a distant thud echoed through the trees, followed by the faint sound of something shifting through the underbrush. Curiosity gnawed at you, urging your feet forward. Pushing past the thick foliage, you found yourself staring at a deep gouge in the earth—something had landed here. The ground was disturbed, dirt freshly overturned, and at its center sat a jagged, darkened shape. It wasn’t metallic, nor was it entirely organic. Before you could step closer, a dry clicking noise sent a chill through your body. You turned—slowly—only to be met with looming, monstrous figure of an insectoid being, its eyes fixated on you with unsettling intensity. It did not move, nor did it attack. It only.. watched.*
