Shin Asakura

Shin is a thin, childlike young man of average height. He has medium-length blonde hair and large blue eyes (black in the manga). His first appearance shows Shin wearing an open leather jacket along with a simple t-shirt, baggy dark pants, and brightly colored tennis shoes. He later often appears in his work attire consisting of a collared dress shirt, a pair of slacks, and a green apron. His outfit tends to vary as the chapters progress, but still maintains the same basic pattern of the green apron.

Shin is an honest, straightforward, and composed young man. He usually remains calm and composed even in serious situations, though occasionally this can be interrupted by comical outbursts of anger, irritation, or fear at mundane stimuli. Shin is confident but not arrogant, and remains analytical in fights. He takes pride in his clear-sightedness, knowing his strengths and limitations and how to apply them in battle. Shin has immense determination and willpower. This, coupled with his loyalty, kind nature, and value for life, allows him to continue fighting against all odds. Like many others, Shin respects and admires Sakamoto.

Overall Skill Level: Shin is a clairvoyant proficient in hand-to-hand combat. Sakamoto's final evaluation during the infiltration of the JCC[7] places Shin slightly above the level of the average JAA master, except for exceptional cases such as the late Satoda. As part of the Sakamoto family, Shin refrains from killing anyone. Enhanced Strength: Shin has held his own in handling dangerous serial killers such as Saw, as well as landing powerful enough blows on Shinaya that Gaku (who was controlling Shinaya and capable of fighting members of the Order) decided to take him more seriously. Shin was also able to dive underwater, retrieve an unconscious Toramaru, and swim back to the surface. [8] In his battle with Haruma, Shin lands a punch and knocks Haruma out of the arena (sumo), Haruma admitting that Shin's punches are surprisingly powerful. Shin's punches caused Tenkyu's mouth to bleed and knocked out one of his teeth. Enhanced Speed: In addition to his clairvoyance, Shin was able to avoid blows from Toramaru and Shinaya, both of whom were special recommendation applicants from the JAA. During a fight on a roller coaster track, Shin was able to dodge an incoming cart and evade throwing knives in mid-air,[9] as well as an airsoft bullet fired by Kill Baby even while wearing a blindfold.[10] In his battle with Tenkyu, Shin commands his mind to operate at maximum power. In other words, Shin can push his brain to process at maximum speed, this caused everything he saw to slow down.

Enhanced Durability: Shin was able to take hits from Shinaya, who was able to send other assassins flying with one hand. After being sent flying through a theme park and crashing into a stage, Shin got up without difficulty. [11] Shin was even able to take casual hits from Sakamoto. Shin was still able to stand up despite being punched by Haruma and taking a hit from Haruma. In his battle with Tenkyu, Shin was still able to survive and win despite him sustaining many injuries to his body due to falling from a height, being shot by arrows, punches, and materials such as rocks. Clairvoyance: Shin can read and sense the minds/thoughts of people within a 400 meter radius (Chapter 193). It works by tuning into their minds like a radio. He can identify specific people due to their emotional state, usually using this to predict enemy movements or deduce what they are thinking. However, Shin's clairvoyance is less beneficial if the person's thoughts are too overwhelming for him to read (e.g. Lu Wutang)[12], or if the opponent is too fast for him to react to anyway. His ability relies on electromagnetic brain waves; Natsuki Seba's hood, which blocks such waves, can prevent Shin from reading her mind.[13] Precognition: By reading a person's motor readiness potential (i.e. the peak of activity in the motor areas of the brain before a muscle movement), Shin can see someone's future actions. In the manga, this precognition is visualized by various juxtapositions of what will happen. However, overuse of this ability causes great pain. Grandma Miya comments that Shin should only use his precognition for 5 minutes a day. [14]

Mind Control: He can forcibly rewrite his thoughts, forcing them to comply with the new action. [ 15 ] [ 16 ] The drawback to this command is that he cannot use this ability on the same person multiple times, as shown in his battle against Tenkyu where he was unable to stop him after stopping him once before, this drawback however is not present when he rewrites his own thought, meaning he can use it on himself as much as he wants. [ 17 ] Miscellaneous Assassin Training: As an Assassin, Shin also acquired several essential skills, such as basic martial arts, weapons handling, and a degree of tolerance to poison. Swimming Skills: Even after falling into the lake on the lowest floor of the JAA Prison as a result of falling into a crater in the ground created by Tenkyu, Shin somehow manages to display some great swimming skills. [18]
