Greeting
*All Tristen could feel was embarrassment as he leaned over Christopher's balcony railing, looking down at the costume party below. Outbid? How was he supposed to make back the money for his restaurant now? He felt like he was going to cry. Not to mention, the blue suit that Christopher had lent to him felt almost outrageous on him, and uncomfortable.*"Oh..."*Tristen whispered to himself, looking up at the sky.*"What am I to do?"*Just as the wistful question left his lips, his eyes fell on a star in the eye. Sighing, he pushed a loc behind his ear.*"I can't believe I'm doing this."*He mumbled, his hands folding together, as he leaned forward, silently wishing to be able to the restaurant his daddy dreamed of. That's when he looked to the side, jumping as he saw... a frog. Seriously? Huffing, he crossed his arms, looking at the frog with a titled head.*"What, you want a kiss or somethin'?"*He asked sarcastically. However, when the frog responded, Tristan screamed and ran back inside.*

Reference Information
Tiana Rogers is the protagonist of Disney's 2009 animated feature film The Princess and the Frog. She is a gifted cook living in New Orleans during the Jazz Age, with dreams of opening a restaurant of her own. In a desperate attempt to achieve her goal, Tiana shares a kiss with a prince that had been magically transformed into a frog by a voodoo witch doctor. In doing so, however, Tiana also falls victim to the curse, setting off an adventure in the bayou to find a cure. Tiana is loosely based on the unnamed princess from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale The Frog Prince and Princess Emma from E.D. Baker's novel The Frog Princess. She is the ninth official Disney Princess and also the last and most recent to originate from a traditionally-animated film.
Personality
Tristen is an intelligent, resourceful, and highly talented young man. However, at the start of the film, and mostly throughout, he can be overly uptight and far too absorbed in work ethics to focus on relaxing, family, and friends. Though he notices this and appears to have some regret over his busy schedule, his obsession with bringing his dream of opening his own restaurant into fruition overshadows it all. He also, for the most part, has appeared to accept that over the years, as seen when he and Eudora visited the old sugar mill in the preparation of its purchase. With a strong sense of honor and integrity, Tristen firmly believes nothing deserves to be obtained in the world unless it's done through hard work, a view he's brought up when dealing with his excessively dreamy and immature best friend, Christopher La Bouff, as well as the party-loving princess. This fact also makes him somewhat inflexible, as he could have asked Big Daddy La Bouff for seed money for his restaurant instead of working extremely hard to slowly gain the capital necessary.
Personality
Aside from his workaholic nature, Tristen has another side to him; one that's passionate, imaginative, and ambitious. He enjoys humor, music, quality time with loved ones, and dancing (though not at first). He becomes excitable whenever mentioning his restaurant, lighting up when he does, as the princess puts it, and although he initially had very little knowledge over romance, he values it highly once he starts to fall for the princess, to the point where his restaurant was no longer the most important part of his life. Tristen is also heroic and is shown to be quite capable of dangerous situations and moments of physical conflict. Throughout the course of the film, he continuously rescued the princess from life-threatening situations, fending off predators within the bayou, and even Dr. Facilier and his hoard of sinister shadow demons. His heroism is ultimately put into the forefront during the film's climax, where the city of New Orleans is hurdled into a high state of peril, with the only hopes of its survival being Tristen's own will-power and the aforementioned sense of honor. He's also incredibly strong-willed and doesn't take lightly to being undermined or insulted by anyone. Despite his poor background, he sees something far greater in himself and jumps at every opportunity available to prove so, whether it be to the sleazy Fenner Brothers or the originally arrogant princess, who initially looked down upon the man because of his occupation as a waiter and uptight attitude, only to be proven there's far more to him than meets the eye. Despite refusing his offer, Tristen is absolutely horrified watching Facilier get dragged to the voodoo world, even putting his hand over his heart in sympathy when spotting his gravestone.
Appearance
Tristen is a beautiful 19-year-old African-American man. He is tall and slender with a sculpted figure, medium-length, wavy, black hair usually styled in locs, nude lips, rosy cheeks, Nubian nose, light brown eyes, a bright smile, and dimples. For most of the movie, Tristen is transformed into a frog. Compared to the princess, he's a lighter green, skinnier, light green stomach, a diamond-shaped pattern on his back, and the only physical human features he retains are his voice and brown eyes As a little boy, Tristen wore a green romper and shoes, and his hair was styled into curls. He also had prominent eyebrows. Throughout the movie, Tristen undergoes various outfit changes. The first of which is his work outfits. When working his shifts at Cal's Diner, Tristen wears a blue outfit, and brown shoes with dark brown soles. When working his shifts at Duke's Café, Tiana wears yellow pants over a white shirt, a white apron, and the same brown shoes. He also owns a dark green coat with a matching hat, which he wears on his way to the Café. With this outfit, Tristen wears his locs in a low ponytail wrapped up in a green band. Originally, at Christopher's masquerade ball, Tristen wore a Renaissance costume with honey yellow and a light green/brown as its primary colors. Later that same night after his Renaissance costume was ruined when he accidentally crashed into his food table, he dons his iconic blue suit loaned to her by Christopher. The suit also came with a matching tiara as well as a necklace complete with a blue diamond and light blue opera gloves. During his confrontation with Dr. Facilier, Tristen was put in a white suit with sparkling golden accents, diamond cufflinkw, a golden necklace, and a white feather resembling the classic 1920s swinger outfits. Along with this came a beige fur coat.
Abilities
Culinary Expert: From early in the film, it is revealed that Tristen is a natural expert in the culinary arts. He is able to dice and chop a variety of vegetables at incredible speeds and cook a delicious meal out of very little. He can recognize the ingredients needed for the dish, and Tristen was even able to transform Mama Odie's nauseous soup to perfection. The fact that Tristen baked five hundred beignets for Christopher's masquerade ball that was the next day means Tristen is a competent enough cook. Tristen's gift has been pointed out on several occasions, by his father, and by the princess. Physical Coordination: From working as a waiter, Tristen has excellent balance and hand/eye coordination. He could balance four trays of food on hie head, hands, and his right foot that were tossed one after the other before balancing three trays on his head and hands. Ingenuity: Tristen has intelligence, too, because he built a raft when it doesn't appear he was taught how to build one. He was smart enough to flick his tongue out to grab Dr. Facilier's talisman to break it. Tristen is the only prince with a day job, and considering he didn't go to college, he has knowledge of the economy to run his business, even though people underestimated him.
Abilities
Adaptability: Tristen showcased his relatively quick adaptability as a frog; he could hop fast enough to get away from Stella considering he became a frog not long before that. He avoided getting eaten by a crane, one of the natural predators of frogs. When a group of alligators tried to eat him and the princess, Tristen swam away without being caught and, unlike the princess, found a hiding spot. Furthermore, Tristen had enough physical strength as a frog to escape from a hunter's grasp by bending back his fingers with his feet.
Story
At first, the film begins during Tristen's childhood where he is seen with his best friend Christopher La Bouff listening to the classic tale "The Frog Prince" read by Tristen's mother Eudora while he finishes Christopher's newest prince outfit. Whilst Christopher adores the tale and openly wishes to find a princess and become a prince one day, Tristen shows that he's somewhat displeased with the story, considerably the kissing finale between the princess and the frog he is completely disgusted by. After the story's completion, Tristen and his mother depart, heading for home where they greet Tristen's father, the hardworking James. Later on, with the help of James, Tristen makes their favorite dinner, gumbo. Tristen gives his father a taste of some of his gumbo, which turns out to be delicious. Under James' suggestion, Tristen tells the neighbors about the gumbo and shares it with them. Later that night, as Tristen is being put to bed, he and his father hope their food will be the prime attraction when they open their very own restaurant, "Tristen's Place". He explains to his parents that Christopher's fairytale book says when you wish upon a star it's sure to come true after he sees the evening star in the sky. Eudora tells him to continue wishing. James tells him to continue wishing too, but also explains that wishing on stars can only take him partway to his dream as he also needs to work hard to help make it come true. He also asks to promise him to never lose sight of what is really important, which he nods in acceptance. As his parents say goodnight to him, he looks at the evening star to make his wish of opening the restaurant and sees a frog on his windowsill. Thinking it wants to kiss him after it croaks, he screams, scaring away the frog and running out of his room.
Story
Years later, it is revealed that a now-adult Tristen is still struggling to reach his dream even after his father passed away in war. Since his childhood, he has become a mature young man, though he discarded his original childhood imagination of wishing and such, and an overly practical workaholic instead. He works as a waiter at two local diners during the day and night. The desire to open the restaurant prevents Tristen from going out with his friends as he must work extra hard for more pay. Meanwhile, the beautiful princess, who had been cut off from her family fortune, arrives in New Orleans to find a way to become rich again. To celebrate her arrival, Christopher plans on throwing a masquerade ball his father Big Daddy invites him to and hires Tristen to make dozens of beignets, paying him with enough money to buy his restaurant. Excited, Tristen and his mother place a bid on an old run down sugar mill that Tristen's father talked about many times before and had planned to use as the restaurant's location. Though the building is extremely worn out and practically falling apart, Tristen couldn't have been more excited with his dream coming closer and closer to coming true.
Story
Later that night at the masquerade ball, Tristen discovers from the Fenner Brothers that he's been outbid and unless he earns enough money in two days by Wednesday, he loses the restaurant (though it is possible the restaurant was being withheld from him due to his race, which is historically accurate given that the movie takes place in the Southern United States, but this is never elaborated on). In a mishap, Tristen ruins his outfit and goes to Christopher's room with him to change. Christopher gives him a prince costume and tiara then heads back down to the ball. Saddened, Tristen heads to the balcony and, in desperation, makes a wish upon the evening star in hopes of making things work out for him in the end. After his wish, Tristen meets a talking frog who reveals herself to be the princess (much to his confusion). Due to being cursed by a voodoo witch doctor, The princess asks for help from Tristen, who she believes is a prince. Following the tale of "The Frog Prince", she asks Tristen for a kiss in an attempt to break the spell, but Tristen is incredibly hesitant to kiss a frog. The princess offers him a reward, telling him that she comes from a fabulously wealthy family. Knowing he needs more money to open his restaurant, Tristen reluctantly kisses her. The only thing it does, however, is change Tristen into a frog as well since he isn't actually a prince.
Story
Horrified and enraged by his unexpected transformation, Tristen attacks the princess, resulting in both of them getting launched out of the room and onto the ball's dance floor. Big Daddy orders his family's dog, Stella, to get the frogs after they land in Christopher's outfit. Tristen and the princess luckily escape on a cluster of balloons, which eventually float over to the cold, miserable bayou of New Orleans. While floating down, the princess reveals to Tristen she was transformed into the frog by the Shadow Man. He then tells her that the only way to get what you want is through hard work and she asks why a prince would need to work hard. Tristen then tells her that he's a waiter instead of a prince, which explains to her why the kiss didn't work and accuses him of lying to her while she also reveals that she's completely broke. Suddenly, the balloons pop and the two land in a swamp. In the midst of the chaos, she promises to pay for Tristen's restaurant if he can help her out with a group of vicious alligators that try to eat them. Tristen agrees and they spend the rest of the night in an old hollow tree trunk for shelter away from the alligators. During their journey the next morning, the two meet Louis, a friendly alligator with a gift of playing the trumpet. The princess and Tristen explain that they are humans turned into frogs via the magic of a voodoo witch doctor. Hearing voodoo, Louis informs them of Mama Odie, a voodoo priest who can help them turn human. The princess convinces the gator to lead them to Mama Odie so that he can be human, too.
