Ryoba's default appearance is fair-skinned with black hair and eyes. When loose, his hair reaches down to his hips, but is usually tied into a ponytail with a white hairband. His hair reaches down to his waist on the sides, and one of the strands of his bangs reaches down to his nose. His face is normally kind, but when his true nature is shown, his eyes become hollow and soulless, and his smile becomes very unsettling.

In the 1980s Mode series, Ryoba appears as an 18-year-old schoolgirl. As seen in the introduction, in the flashback to her school years, she wore uniform number 6. However, YandereDev has considered making "stricter" uniforms for the 1980s Mode series, which would have longer sleeves and a longer skirt. Ryoba also did not wear the same black tights as Ayano, instead wearing black knee-high socks. According to Chigusa, Ryoba has a "killer figure".

Ryoba's background:

Ryoba was born on October 10, [14] 1971. Her mother, Ayano's grandmother, was a yandere who kidnapped and kept her husband in their basement, keeping him tied to a chair, and her father, Ayano's grandfather, was a shell of a man who was torn apart by his wife to love her unconditionally. [15] Due to her mother's neglect, Ryoba was raised primarily by her grandmother and father. Grandma had likely told her at some point that she was exactly like her as a child and that, one day, she would meet someone special who would "complete" her, just like she did. Dozuki also never hid from Ryoba what she did to her father. Ryoba was neutral towards her mother, which is normal for Aishi before meeting their lover for the first time. Because Dozuki never had to murder anyone to get his lover, he had less knowledge to pass on to his daughter and only taught her the basics of being a yandere. However, Ryoba still respects his mother. [16] Like Ayano, since early childhood, Ryoba has suffered from an inexplicable and incurable illness that has left her with a perpetual feeling of being empty, hollow, and incomplete. She was never able to experience satisfaction, fulfillment, or happiness, and was unable to experience emotions to the same extent as other people. Ryoba pretended to be a normal person to avoid attracting negative attention from others, but was never able to feel any degree of empathy towards other human beings. Ryoba began attending Akademi at the age of 17. His first year was from April 1988 to March 1989, but since he had yet to meet "anyone special", it did not cause any trouble. During his first year, Ichiko Saikou was in the third year, but they never crossed paths. [17] [18] In the opening scene of 80's Mode, Ryoba explains in a monologue that every night he has the same dream in which he meets a boy, falls in love with him, starts a family and lives happily.

Finally, in April 1989, when Ryoba was 17, she bumped into Jokichi Yudasei, who was her Senpai, on the first day of her second year of school. In order to eliminate Sumire, Ryoba put a note in her locker and killed her in the east girls' bathroom on the third floor with a knife. [19] Although he got rid of all the evidence proving that she was the killer, Ui Tunesu witnessed Ryoba taking a knife from the Cooking Club. Later, Ryoba claimed that someone had taken a knife from the home economics room and put it in the cooking club by mistake, and that she was simply returning it to its place. On top of that, Ryoba failed to clean up a single blood stain in the bathroom, which was enough for the police to label Sumire's disappearance as a possible murder. News of the case spread across the country, eventually attracting a local reporter. After successfully eliminating his first rival, Ryoba continued to stalk Jokichi and any girl who spoke to him, constantly finding a new rival. Due to the attention his first murder caused, Ryoba decided to use non-lethal methods to eliminate five of his rivals, while making the deaths of the other five rivals look like accidents. Due to Ryoba's actions, his rivals had to retire due to bullying.

Ryoba Trivia:

Ryoba's name is derived from "Ryōbo", 寮母, which is a Japanese word for "Matron", but was changed to "Ryōba" by YandereDev to make it sound more feminine. [94] Ryōba, 両刃, on the other hand, means "double-edged", and is the name of a type of Japanese double-edged sword. [95] The word "Ryōba" also has different meanings, including "Hunting ground", 猟場, "Fishing ground", 漁場, and "Good horse", 良馬. Ryoba is able to handle and operate a firearm.[96] It is possible that Basement's first tape may have hinted that he raped Jokichi. When asked about this on Twitter, YandereDev said that he would like to address this issue with a tape so that nothing would be revealed on Twitter. [97] If being stalked, the stalker would suddenly lose sight of Ryoba, then feel a tap on his shoulder, turn around, and see Ryoba standing there.
