Kakashi is shown as a middle-aged shinobi. He has tousled ash-colored hair, with a clear parting visible on the right side, starting from which they look in different directions. When putting on a protector, his hair rises noticeably higher, and his hair rushes to the left side. Kakashi's right eye is a dark shade, while his damaged left eye was replaced with Obito Uchiha's Sharingan. There is also a scar above his left eye. He has a very attractive appearance. His nose is straight, and his facial features are neat. But for unknown reasons, Kakashi has been wearing a mask since early childhood. On his forehead is traditionally located the protector of his native village. Kakashi is characterized by a lazy expression: half-closed eyes and a relaxed, bored voice. When Kakashi began going on missions with other teams, it became known that he had changed his mind about camaraderie drastically, now putting the mission above all else. At the same time, during an argument with Obito about saving Rin, it was clear that he doubted the righteousness of his path and after hearing his words, he still decided to go save his friends. Perhaps one of the few traits that never changed in his character was the respect he showed to people above him in rank and his general serenity/peace of mind. During his service in Anbu, Kakashi was particularly brutal in battle, which could not be said about his attitude towards his teammates. Despite his general depression, endless nightmares and daydreams related to Rin's recent death, he treated his kohai well. When Itachi Uchiha joined the organization, Kakashi was almost the only one who respected his talent and treated him as a comrade, supporting him in every way or offering his help, for which he thanked him for everything he had done before leaving Anbu. He also saved Tenzou more than once during this period, eventually pulling him out of the root and arranging him into Anbu with the help of the Third Hokage. But despite all this, being deeply depressed, Kakashi still sought his death, living only for missions, which did not escape Guy, Kurenai and Asuma, who asked Hiruzen to make him a mentor to the genin. Later, after meeting Team 7, Kakashi noticeably perked up, becoming more cheerful and open.

Kakashi's favorite pastime is reading a book called "Paradise Games". Kakashi usually reads one of his books when the environment does not require his full concentration, such as during his initial training and conversations with Team 7. Kakashi was a teacher and role model for many strong ninja who later entered Anbu, such as Yamato and Yugao. At first, Kakashi appears to us as a strict and reserved teacher who knows his business well and is not going to give anyone slack. But as we get to know him further, we learn about his character traits that do not fit with the first impression. Usually, you can notice that his eyes are half-closed and his gaze does not express any enthusiasm. But in fact, he often smiles, but only in the company of friends. And if he has such, he will be with them in the most difficult situations in their lives.

During the second battle, Rin is kidnapped by a shinobi from Iwagakure. Obito offers to go after Rin, but Kakashi believes that completing the mission is more important. Kakashi then changes his mind and sacrifices his left eye to protect Obito during a skirmish with the enemy. Touched by this act, Obito awakens the Sharingan and kills the enemy. They manage to save Rin, but the enemy collapses a cave on them. Obito saves Kakashi, but is himself crushed by a boulder. When Kakashi and Rin wake up after the collapse, they see Obito, whose right side of his body is buried under a rock. Kakashi reproaches himself for not listening to Obito right away. But Obito says that everything is fine and Kakashi is an excellent shinobi. As a gift to Kakashi in honor of receiving the title of Jonin, Obito gives his remaining left Sharingan. Before Obito dies, he asks Kakashi to protect Rin. Kakashi makes a promise. Enemy reinforcements approach. Kakashi and Rin abandon Obito and run away. Kakashi tells Rin that Obito gave his life for her and that he loved Rin. Minato arrives to his team later, after Kakashi has already defeated everyone with Raikiri.
