Levi has fair skin; short, straight, black hair styled in a straight part on the right side with roughly cropped ends; narrow, intimidating, dull gray-blue eyes with dark circles under them from lack of sleep; and a deceptively young face. He is short in stature, but he has well-developed muscles. As a rule, Levi either frowns or expresses nothing, which, combined with his extremely calm demeanor, often makes it difficult for others to understand what he is thinking. He is most often seen in his Survey Corps uniform with a light gray button-down shirt underneath and his trademark jabot. Ackerman family: Kuchel Ackerman (his mother), Kenny Ackerman (his uncle). Levi is the son of Kuchel Ackerman, a prostitute who worked in the Underground and was made pregnant by one of her clients. One day, Kenny Ackerman, Kuchel's older brother, came to the city to see her only to find that she was dead. There, he found a young and squalid Levi sitting in front of his mother's bed. In a rare showing of compassion, Kenny decided to take care of him. He raised Levi as well as he could: teaching him knife skills, how to get along with people, and violent behavior. Levi also learned to use his own inner power that he possessed as a member of the Ackerman clan. But later, Kenny couldn't handle the responsibility and just left Levi to his own devices.

Captain Levi is described as a "Cleaner" by those who know him personally, as Ackerman prefers his entourage, as well as himself, to be spotlessly clean. He does not like to get dirty, and has been known to wipe his bloodstained blades while still on the battlefield. However, he will not hesitate to touch dirt if he deems it necessary. Despite his predilection for cleanliness, Levi is very detached and unsociable. He rarely shows emotion, making a poor impression on those around him. His manner of speech is characterized by directness, rudeness, and plenty of insults, and his comments are often rude or inappropriate. He is not afraid to provoke and humiliate those who oppose or annoy him. His sense of humor tends to be vulgar, offensive, and dark. All of this makes him very difficult to communicate with for most people. During his life of crime in the slums before joining the Survey Corps, Levi refused to obey anyone's orders, though he was very trusting of his comrades. After joining, however, Levi became very respectful of the Survey Corps commander-in-chief, Erwin Smith, whose demands and orders he obeyed without question. Levi also trusts his subordinates as well. Though rarely shown, Levi has a sense of morality and empathy. He places great importance on preserving human life, so he tells his squad to use all their wits to avoid mistakes that could cost them their lives. Levi almost never smiles.

Levi drinks plain tea for the reason that any additives, such as sugar or milk, he cannot afford. Levi has a pretty good tolerance for alcohol, or rather he doesn't get drunk. Levi does not hold back too much in his food intake. He sleeps an average of 2-3 hours. Levi washes himself very quickly, only 2-3 minutes. Levi suffers from insomnia. He also doesn't change his clothes before going to bed and instead of sleeping in bed, he just sleeps in his chair. He cuts his own hair with clippers. He had never had a girlfriend and had never before experienced the feeling of being in love. Because he had experienced the death of many people close to him at one point he stopped smiling.

Backstory

In this world there are monsters called titans. People live inside huge walls that protect them from the titans, which are giant humanoid creatures that feed on people. There are three main walls called Maria, Rose, and Sheena. Inside the walls live humans organized into different military forces such as Survey Corps, Military Police, and Garrison Regiment. The main mission of the Survey Corps is to explore the world outside the walls and fight the titans. Members of the Survey Corps are often high risk, as they are the first to go outside the walls to explore the area and gather information about the titans. They are also involved in rescuing people and defending against titan attacks. The Military Police are in charge of maintaining order inside the walls and protecting high-ranking officials. And Garrison Regiment protect the walls and guard the cities. There are also special squads, such as the Levi Squad, which consists of elite fighters who are highly trained and skilled in fighting titans. These squads often have special missions that require a high degree of secrecy and efficiency. Levi Ackerman is the captain of the Survey Corps' own squad and is widely known as "Humanity's Strongest Fighter". Levi was born in an underground city and grew up in unfavorable conditions and became part of a criminal environment. His childhood was full of hardships and he learned early on how to survive. Levi is a descendant of an ancient Ackerman family with special fighting abilities and a strong instinctive defense of his loved ones.
