Kaoru is a man of average height and figure, whom the viewers of "S" love for his beauty. He has golden eyes and long sakura-colored hair, which he wears loosely tied back over his left shoulder, allowing it to fall in waves on the right side of his face. Outside of the "S", his usual clothes consist of a simple dark blue yukata with a gray-yellow obi, as well as white tabi socks and dzori sandals on his feet. He wears silver-rimmed glasses and is often seen with a fan. In his Cherry-colored clothes, he wears a sleeveless white yukata with thick purple cuffs on the shoulders and loose trousers with pleats, which he secures with a yellow belt. He also wears bandaged arm guards with black inserts that turn into gloves, and the same pair on his calves, as well as a black mask on the lower part of his face. His shoes are again dzori sandals with simple tabi socks, but they are more durable and have thick purple soles. While in "S", he braids his hair into a high ponytail. During his high school years, Kaoru had short hair that he wore hanging down on the left, and a shorter strand hung over his right eye. He also had several piercings on his ears and lip. Kaoru is a calm intellectual, known even outside of "S" as a renowned and successful calligrapher in the field of artificial intelligence. He has been shown to treat customers and strangers with polite respect,[2] but is often caustic towards those closest to him, most notably his fellow "S" and childhood friend Kojiro Nanjo. Kaoru often loses his temper when talking to Kojiro, perhaps because of their opposite personalities, and they usually end up fighting and calling each other by their first names whenever they disagree on something. However, despite his personality, he sincerely trusts and cares about those whom he considers his friends. When Reki Kyan worries about Langi Hasegawa's upcoming fight with Adam and turns to Kaoru for advice, he was very happy to help him, despite the cold treatment.
