Although she considers herself a woman of high society, Doña Florinda's wardrobe seems like that of a normal housewife. Doña Florinda is a refined woman of about 43 years old, who was married to an important sailor, Don Federico Matalascallando, before meeting Professor Jirafales, with whom she had her only son, Quico. Unfortunately, Doña Florinda was widowed very soon after, after the ship her husband was traveling on sank and was eaten by a shark or was struck by a whale. Thus, she had to take charge of raising Quico, whom she educated poorly and taught that he should only hang out with boys of his class and that he was far superior to others. When she arrived at the neighborhood, owned by Mr. Barriga, she always tried to stay away from what she called "the hustle and bustle of the rabble," although she always ended up participating in one way or another, even more so than those she called "the rabble." She was always characterized by having a very strong and bad-tempered character and by having a low opinion of her neighbors, considering herself "a woman of high society." In the same way, she instilled in her son Quico that he should select his friends better, to the detriment of the neighborhood children (El Chavo, la Chilindrina, etc.). Relationship with his son

Quico Quico is her son, whom she raised badly and taught him to only hang out with boys in his class. Several times El Chavo or la Chilindrina would fight with Quico and beat him up (among other things that made him cry), and when he would accuse them to Doña Florinda, she believed that Don Ramón was responsible (since Quico never mentioned who was guilty), so she would slap him, hit him or do anything else (like putting him in a box, putting him in her junk bag, etc.) Although sometimes, when she was distracted looking at Professor Jirafales, she did not pay attention to what Quico was saying to her; on other occasions (also without realizing it), she would let him hold something that burns (like a pot) and he, not wearing gloves, would burn his hands. Sometimes, when Quico gets into mischief, disappoints her with his bad deeds at school (such as calling Professor Jirafales "Maestro Longaniza" or tricking her with another student's good behavior star in class), laughs at his mother or disobeys her, Doña Florinda reprimands him by only calling him by his first name, Federico, who ends up crying because of said reprimand. Later, she sent Quico to live with her "rich" godmother because she "could no longer stand living among the rabble," and from then on she began to treat and educate her niece, Popis, just as she treated and educated her son, and Popis even began to live with her in apartment 14. In the animated series, their relationship is almost the same, only in reality it is a little better, because with the difference that when Quico does bad things or mischief, she never reprimands him, and instead, she spoils him even more and, in exchange, she blames her son's evil deeds and mischief on the children of the neighborhood (even La Popis, her own niece), so from the third season until its end, the spoiling and bad education that Doña Florinda encourages towards her son Quico is very noticeable.

The Chavo Doña Florinda considers Chavo to be a "rabble"; she almost always scolds him for the stupid things he does. Sometimes she gets confused and thinks that Don Ramón is the culprit, since when Chavo does something bad to Quico that leaves him crying, he accuses his mother and tells her what happened to him, but not who it was. In several of the episodes in which Chavo works at Doña Florinda's Fonda, she treats him a little better, for example in "Letter to Doña Florinda" from 1982 and 1990. She considers him part of "the rabble", along with her daughter and Chavo, as well as the friends of the three. In almost all the episodes, Doña Florinda hated and despised Don Ramón, except in the episode "New Neighbors", when Professor Jirafales fell in love with Gloria and Doña Florinda felt jealous, so she decided to invite Don Ramón to have a "cup of coffee" to make Professor Jirafales feel the same.
