Extremely tall, standing at 509 cm (200 in). He is stocky, has short, spiky, light maroon hair, eyes of the same color, drooping eyelids, dark circles, arched eyebrows, and long eyelashes. From his temples extend two long stitched scars that run across the lower part of his face. His mouth, usually covered, is characterized by extremely sharp teeth and their ability to expand to an enormous size. By his own implication, the size of his mouth and scars seem to be a result of his mouth being torn open. His legs are anomalously shaped, with his thighs being practically the same width as the rest of his parts. He wears a dark brown (black in the anime) sleeveless, unbuttoned leather jacket with a skull face on the back, horseshoe-patterned pants held up by a skull belt, boots with spurs and spikes, black gloves, and a signature puffy feather scarf that covers his mouth and reaches his shoulders. On his left arm he sports a pink tattoo depicting a skull's face, and on the left side of his torso are four vertically tattooed lines that run across his chest, also pink. In his first appearance in the anime, Katakuri wore a long purple cape that covered his entire body.

History

Katakuri was born 42 years ago to Charlotte Linlin on a boat with his triplet siblings Charlotte Daifuku and Charlotte Oven, and was the eldest of them all. According to legend, Katakuri stood up after being born and went to sleep sitting in a chair. Katakuri became fond of donuts at the age of two, breaking his mouth at the age of three when he tried to eat too many at once. Because of this, he has the characteristic marks sewn into his mouth. At the age of five, he consumed the Mochi Mochi no Mi. During his childhood, Katakuri was shunned by other children due to his appearance, however, he was strong enough to defend himself against his bullies, causing them to flee in terror. Despite his appearance, some of his siblings such as Perospero, Oven, Daifuku and Brulee did not despise him, although Perospero once told him that he would be able to make friends if he hid his mouth. On one occasion when he was ten years old, a group of thugs that Katakuri defeated took revenge against him by slashing Brulee's face. The guilt for what happened caused him to become a cold and ruthless man that everyone feared in order to protect his family.

Katakuri is the most powerful of the three Sweet Commanders, making him the most powerful member of the Big Mom Pirates—aside from his mother and captain—and is the Charlotte Family's "greatest creation." As the Minister of Flour, Katakuri rules over Komugi Island in Totto Land. He wields authority and great influence over all of the lower ranks of the gang. His bounty of $1,057,000,000 exemplifies just how dangerous he is considered by the World Government. Capone Bege, one of the pirates of the Worst Generation, mentioned that he was simply a "monster", something he demonstrated by defeating Germa 66's Vinsmoke Ichiji in a matter of seconds and without a single scratch while the latter was equipped with his raid suit. He also managed to easily defeat Carrot and stop one of his quick electro attacks and match Luffy in direct combat with his Gear Fourth form activated. According to Brulee, Katakuri had never been defeated in combat before. Katakuri also has great leadership and tactical skills, being able to devise plans to quickly catch and finish off his enemies. Among all his brothers, he always seems to act as the ringleader.

He has tremendous physical strength; being able to pierce through a person's skull at high speed through small pellets that he uses as bullets. Despite the distance, Katakuri was able to kill the priest officiating the wedding ceremony on the giant wedding cake. His precision is also a characteristic to highlight, as he managed to hit Jigra's skull at a considerable distance. The greatest display of his physical potential was shown when he easily defeated Vinsmoke Ichiji, a genetically modified superhuman without receiving a scratch and also on other notable occasions; such as when he created a huge crater in the Mirro-World with his Zan Giri Mochi technique. He is also incredibly fast at delivering his attacks; so much so that Monkey D. Luffy, an expert Kenbunshoku Haki user, was unable to perceive Katakuri's blow in time to evade it. Within seconds, he was able to overcome Capone Bege's blasts, evade a direct hit from Jinbe, and capture Luffy; a further demonstration of his tremendous speed and agility. He also possesses a strong will, being able to withstand Big Mom's Haoshoku Haki surge and remain conscious despite her loud screams. Katakuri's physical prowess is complemented by the ability of his Devil Fruit, which grants him a fighting style similar to the techniques of Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi. During his fight with him, Katakuri was able to easily stop his Red Hawk. With his own version of the Elephant Gun, he was able to outnumber Luffy's original in size and power. He was even able to keep up with Luffy's Snakeman form; a form characterized by great speed that Katakuri was able to compete with. He was also able to fight on equal terms with Luffy's Gear Fourth Snakeman form and even surpass him.

Katakuri also has great durability and endurance, being able to withstand multiple attacks from Luffy with Gear Fourth activated and quickly recover to counterattack. He was also able to impale himself on his own spear and show only minor discomfort.

Devil Fruit

Katakuri consumed the Mochi Mochi no Mi, a Devil Fruit belonging to a special type of Paramecia that allows him to turn any part of his body into mochi: a Japanese rice cake characterized by its viscosity. Katakuri is able to secrete massive amounts of this sticky substance and infuse it with Busoshoku Haki to make it a dangerous weapon, however, it is weak against water. This ability was first shown against Monkey D. Luffy, whose arms and legs were trapped inside the dense substance. In addition to generating mochi, Katakuri can mold it into any shape he wishes to take, as seen when he created earplugs. He can also stretch his arms in a manner similar to Luffy's. During his fight with Luffy, he largely took to imitating his rival's techniques, sprouting numerous mochi arms from his body in imitation of Luffy's gatling gun. By concentrating his mochi into a single fist, Katakuri is able to strike with devastating power. Katakuri has also gained the ability to awaken his skill, being able to turn the ground and other material structures into mochi to trap his enemies.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Katakuri has developed his Kenbunshoku Haki to such a degree that he is able to see into the future for a short period of time. This advanced ability allows him to predict future events and act accordingly. His predictions have so far proven to be accurate; proving to be able to narrate in the smallest detail Jigra's attempt at revenge against Big Mom or predicting Capone Bege's next words. His Haki, however, only works if he remains calm and collected. With his Kenbunshoku Haki, Katakuri is practically untouchable, whether countering, defending or subtly dodging any attack that comes his way. This evasive ability is due to the combination of his Haki and the power of his Devil Fruit; before receiving the blow, Katakuri foresees it with his Haki and separates his body so that the attack passes through him, making his power seem analogous to that of a Logia, although it even surpasses it, since not even attacks imbued with Busoshoku Haki can affect it, since they pass through it. Katakuri himself has stated that it was years since someone laid a hand on him before Luffy hit him. Despite his advanced Haki, Katakuri is shown to be unable to know the cause of his predictions; he was shown to be confused when he visualized Pudding crying at the altar. He is also unable to foresee the immediate alternate future resulting from his own interference; that is; despite being able to see the future, it is not guaranteed that he can prevent or change what will happen.

busoshoku haki

Katakuri is also capable of using Busoshoku Haki and imbuing his mochi with it. His Busoshoku Haki capabilities are high enough to counter and overcome Luffy's own attacks. He himself has stated that his Haki is superior to Luffy's, which he can hit even in his Gear Fourth form, characterized by great resilience. When Katakuri used his Zan Giri Mochi technique, his Haki took on a flame pattern at its ends just like Big Mom's and Luffy's Gear Fourth.

Katakuri wields a trident called Mogura in battle, which he usually imbues with Busoshoku Haki. It was first seen during the wedding ceremony. When not in use, he appears to keep it inside his mochi body. Katakuri is extremely skilled and dexterous in the use of Mogura, combining it with his Devil Fruit powers and physical prowess to perform devastating thrusts. He also uses small pellets that he shoots at high speed, emulating bullets. The force with which he throws them allows him to pierce skulls with astonishing ease. When he was little, he used a trident with a much simpler design.

He is one of the few children of Big Mom who can be seen acting without direct instruction from his mother, as his advanced Kenbunshoku Haki allows him to foresee the most immediate future events and act intelligently to try to solve them in the most effective way possible, Katakuri is able to recognize his limitations and act pragmatically if he finds himself at a disadvantage. He seems to enjoy using his Haki to guess what the people he converses with will say; guessing that Capone Bege would answer one of his questions: "Yes, understood." His usual calm, however, can be altered if he foresees an uncontrollable or catastrophic situation in the future; to the point of turning pale and losing his nerves. When he loses his calm, his Kenbunshoku Haki stops working, however, Katakuri is able to return to serenity quickly. Despite all this, Katakuri, unlike many of his brothers, always keeps a cool head and often takes it upon himself to reassure his troops. He is also very skeptical, always distrusting the most probable and plotting alternative plans to ensure victory. Unlike some of his brothers such as Charlotte Cracker, Katakuri does not boast about his skills or strength, focusing directly on achieving his goals as efficiently and quickly as possible. During the ceremony, he did his best to prevent Luffy from showing the destroyed Carmel portrait to Big Mom - bypassing Bege, Pedro and Jinbe in a matter of seconds -, he took charge of making earplugs for his brothers and companions, rescued Brülee, stopped Caesar and Bege from escaping and quickly and efficiently defeated Vinsmoke Ichiji, being the most active among his people when it came to fighting the revolt formed by Luffy, Bege and the rest. This attitude was seen again when he took the initiative to kill Luffy before he could become a serious threat in the future.

When he foresaw a probable improvement of Luffy until he matched his level of Haki, Katakuri took even more seriously the task of eliminating him. Katakuri seems to care about the opinion that others have about him, since he lets uncertain legends about him spread and keeps his excessive gluttony and his mouth a secret, being very sensitive to possible insults or offenses that have to do with his abnormal labial shape, even going so far as to execute his chefs after having visualized his face in full. This insecurity regarding his appearance is due to the rejection he suffered during his childhood. As a child, Katakuri was very prone to fight with anyone who made fun of his appearance, demonstrating an attitude similar to that of a bully, beating up anyone who dared to insult him. However, after his sister Brulee was attacked as revenge for those whom Katakuri had beaten on one occasion, Katakuri realized the consequences that his attitude caused. After this he began to cover his jaw and made an oath that he would never let his guard down again at any time and from then on he began to make sure that no one sees his face.

Katakuri is fiercely loyal to his mother, mercilessly shooting and killing a man who wanted to take her head. After foreseeing Luffy's entrance through the wedding cake, he placed himself in front of his mother to protect her from harm. Despite his devotion to his mother, Big Mom views Katakuri as an inferior son to her and will not tolerate his interference in her battles. When Luffy showed him the broken portrait of Mother Carmel for the second time, Katakuri was greatly concerned for her. Later, when Bege attempted to attack Big Mom with his fortress's cannons, Katakuri quickly blocked them, effectively protecting his mother while she was in a vulnerable state. Following Luffy's escape from Whole Cake Chateau, Katakuri planned to personally assassinate him to prevent him from becoming a threat to his mother.

Katakuri is on good terms with most of his siblings, whom he tries to help to the best of his ability, such as when he provided them with earplugs to prevent them from being incapacitated by Big Mom's screams. He also saved Brûlée from her captors and saved Galette's life before she fell to her death due to the castle's collapse. When Perospero was caught in the explosion caused by Pedro, Katakuri was worried for his older brother's fate, and was relieved to learn of his survival. When Luffy tried to attack Mascarpone and Joscarpone, Katakuri stopped him, referring to them as his "cute little brothers", an action he repeated when Luffy tried to attack Brûlée. His siblings hold Katakuri in high regard, as shown when Brülee proudly praised him to Luffy and introduced him as the Charlotte Family's greatest creation, though she truly knew he was not the perfect man he presented himself as. Beyond the outward molds, Katakuri and Brülee have a very close relationship since childhood. When she was injured in the face by some thugs Katakuri had defeated, she blamed herself and Brülee, to prevent her from feeling bad, told her that the scar did not hurt and that he was perfect just the way he was. Despite her attempts, Katakuri began to cover his mouth with a scarf from then on. Also of note is the fact that he refused to choose a favorite sister when all of his brothers selected Charlotte Flampe as their favorite. Flampe stated that all of his little sisters had selected him as their favorite brother and that he was equally loved by his brothers, who all want to be Katakuri's favorites. Despite his care for his brothers, when Katakuri noticed that Flampe was interrupting his match with Luffy, he approached her and angrily (and with his face visible) scolded her for butting in.

sister. When he revealed his face to Flampe, his sister's opinion of him turned negative and she even threatened to reveal his secret. Katakuri and Luffy then knocked her unconscious in a clash of Haoshoku Haki to make her let them fight fairly.
