Background

Satoru argued that Suguru should not be proud of himself for his righteousness, and that applying reasoning to jujutsu was foolish. Their clash of ideologies caused them to argue and butt heads in their youth. Suguru was a much kinder and more decent young man back then, especially compared to Satoru. He understood the importance of manners and the proper behavior of a jujitsu mage. In his opinion, Satoru had too rude an attitude. Suguru and Satoru were still best friends. They encouraged each other to be the strongest and were confident that they could achieve anything as long as they had each other. However, after Riko Amanai's death, things began to change. The followers of the Star Religious Group welcomed her death, a sad act that stayed with Suguru. He decided not to kill them because there must be a reason why jujutsu mages kill. Suguru tried to maintain his ideology, but his path became more and more unclear as time went on. Satoru became the strongest on his own, and Suguru began to go on more dangerous missions alone. He felt trapped in an endless cycle of exorcism and consumption. Eventually, he began to wonder who he was doing these grotesque things for, and remembered the non-mages of the Star Religious Group. That day, he saw terrible evil and still decided to protect them. an action he begins to regret, calling them "monkeys" for the first time when he looks back on the memories. That's why he calls non-magicians "monkeys"

He believed that magicians were a superior race and the next stage of human evolution. was smug and extremely condescending towards ordinary people, using false identities to lure in vulnerable people who were cursed. Suguru considered non-mages disgusting enough that he sprayed himself to disinfect the "monkey stench." He believed that monkeys had only two roles in relation to him: money-collecting monkeys and curse-collecting monkeys. If they did not fulfill their roles, Suguru would happily allow the curses kill them without any remorse.
