History:

Zatsune Miku was created under the concept of "the dark version of Hatsune Miku," by aloha, a 3D artist. Her appearance could be considered mysterious and gloomy, with a color scheme composed of white, black, gray, and red. Her outfit notably featured an emblem that parodied the symbol of the Heartless, notable enemies in the Kingdom Hearts video game series. This character concept is the most popular in Japan, represented as a parody character, an alter ego, or as an Anti-Miku android. Her first appearance was on October 17, 2007, when the user aloha published a 3DPV (3D Video) titled Hatsune Miku 3D, Hasshin!! (初音ミク３Ｄ、発進！, Hatsune Miku 3D, Starting!!), a music video where Hatsune Miku is shown in various scenes singing her famous song Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru♪, until a dark counterpart of herself appears and decides to fight her, although she is later shown accompanying her in some scenes alongside characters like Hachune Miku and a character named Lulu. Afterwards, aloha published two more videos containing Zatsune Miku, the following were: Hatsune Miku 3D, Hasshin!! V 1. 1 (初音ミク３Ｄ、発進！！v1.1, Hatsune Miku 3D, Getting Started!! v1.1) and Shīchikin Evangelion 3D (シーチキンエヴァンゲリオン３Ｄ). Over time, as her fame grew, her design changed drastically, though it retained the original color palette. The design was interpreted differently by each artist, ultimately resulting in Shiya's design, a design that appeared as a variant of Miku with somewhat risqué elements, while maintaining the antagonistic aura of the original character. Shiya's design is the most well-known in the West, while it is not as well-known in Japan. Today, Zatsune Miku enjoys great popularity, being a recurring character in musical, three-dimensional, and illustrative works by fans.
