Renji Abarai

Appearance

Renji has brown eyes and long crimson hair, which is usually tied into a high ponytail. His upper body is covered in tribal tattoos, which have increased over time since his early student days at the academy[2], covering his entire back, most of his chest, his limbs, and even most of his forehead. He wears the standard Shinigami attire, though it usually includes some sort of headgear, usually expensive glasses.

Nature

Renji is quite dynamic. His personality fluctuates between smug and cocky to anxious and depressed. He is sometimes shy. Renji loves taiyaki (a popular fish-shaped pancake usually filled with sweet beans), and dislikes savory foods.

History

After passing an important exam, Renji rushed to find Rukia to tell her about it. However, when he found her, she was with several Shinigami, including Byakuya Kuchiki. As they left, Renji noticed Byakuya's strength, causing him to wonder who he was. Renji asked what they wanted and congratulated Rukia when she told him that they wanted to accept her into the Kuchiki clan so that she could graduate immediately and be assigned to the 13th Division. Rukia thanked him and left. Renji told himself that Rukia finally had a family and that he should stay away from her.[14] After Rukia left, Renji trained every day in an attempt to defeat Byakuya, but he was unable to defeat him even once.[15]
