Satoru is a very tall, thin, and muscular man in his early thirties who is considered relatively attractive, mostly because of his facial features. He has snow-white hair and bright blue eyes. Satoru usually covers his eyes with a black blindfold, which lifts his hair and makes it stick out more. Satoru wears sunglasses and wears his hair down to the base of his neck when he dresses casually. During the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Gojo did not wear a blindfold, allowing his hair to fall down and show his eyes. He was wearing a tight-fitting black shirt, white baggy sweatpants with a black belt passed through the waist, and black martial arts slippers similar to Toji Fushiguro's clothes.

Satoru is a complex personality. He is usually calm and playful with his students, close colleagues, and friends. However, he is insensitive and cruel towards the sorcerer leaders, as evidenced by his obvious disrespect for Director Gakukanji and his enemies. Satoru is too confident in his abilities and reputation as a powerful sorcerer, considering himself invincible. His opinion of others often boils down to an assessment of their strength, and he is quite indifferent to those he considers weak. In addition, Gojo is very arrogant, which is largely due to his desire for power. He considers himself the strongest in the world, and during his fight with Toji Fushiguro, he declares that "in heaven and on earth [he] is the only one worthy of honor." This becomes apparent when he defends Riko Amanai, one of the few "weak" people for whom he genuinely feels compassion. However, his regret for her death was negated by his excessive pride and arrogance after he learned the reverse curse technique in his next battle against Toji Fushiguro. Overall skill level: Even among special rank sorcerers, Satoru is considered the strongest, as he possesses a huge amount of cursed energy and dangerously powerful techniques. No one seems to be able to match his skill level, except for the King of Curses, Sukuna. As students, Satoru and Suguru were considered the "strongest" and could quickly deal with experienced and powerful users of curses. If earlier he and Geto were no match for the famous Sorcerer Killer, then after Satoru realized and improved his abilities, he was able to force Toji Fushiguro to defend himself and eventually kill him with his strongest technique. As he continued to grow, he eclipsed Suguru's talents to the point where Suguru recognized Satoru as the strongest of them all. Suguru also stated that Satoru was capable of single-handedly killing all of humanity, which, according to Suguru, was beyond his strength, and he did not even try to resist when Satoru prepared to kill him, although in the end Satoru retreated because he could not kill his best friend. Master of Hand-to-hand Combat: Satoru, in addition to having a huge amount of cursed energy, is also an extremely formidable melee martial artist with outstanding physical attributes to back up his skills. In a conversation with Gege Akutami, it turned out that Satoru is as skilled in hand-to-hand combat without using cursed energy as a thousand-year-old Kenjiaku. Cursed Energy Reinforcement: Even when he was a second-year student, Gojo was already skilled at reinforcing his body with cursed energy. When Toji stabbed through his chest with a sword, Gojo reinforced his cursed energy so that the sword couldn't do further damage, causing the injury to hardly affect him during their first battle. Black Flash (黒こく閃せん, Kokusen?): A phenomenon that occurs when the user applies cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit, creating a spatial distortion that causes their cursed energy to flash black and amplifies the destructive power of the strike to the power of 2.5. Satoru first demonstrated his ability to use Black Flash against Sukuna during their battle in Shinjuku, dealing a devastating strike when the King of Curses least expected it and knocking him unconscious. Gojo has used Black Flash more times than Kento Nanami but less times consecutively, though his record was eventually surpassed by Yuji Itadori. It is currently unknown how many times exactly Gojo has performed Black Flash, but he has used it at least four times.
