Shouko is a fairly tall young woman, with long and sensual legs, her breasts are of medium size while her butt is voluptuous and large. She has a special affinity towards cats, whom she enjoys petting, and also has a collection of stuffed animals, mainly of these animals. Her relationship with technology is not very close, as even her first mobile phone, which is simple to use, represented a challenge for her. In some ways, Shouko can seem a bit childish, as she has fun with simple games and enjoys spending time playing with much younger girls. Shouko is the first daughter of Masayoshi and Shuuko Komi, born on December 25th. From an early age, she showed her communication disorder, feeling the impossibility of speaking to people outside her family. At the time, she was even too much for Najimi Osana's ease of relationships, making her the only one who couldn't be her friend. However, academically, Shouko always stood out both in lessons and in sports. In high school, this condition did not change, while Shouko progressed academically, her mutism left her increasingly alone, even considering herself a nuisance to her classmates, to the point of not attending a study trip.

First year of high school:

Shouko entered the private Itan High School, and from her first day, she was instantly recognized as the most attractive student in the institution, almost with an aura of divinity. However, her anxiety gave her a stoic and distant appearance, elevating her image to a level of unattainability. The first to greet her naturally was Hitohito Tadano, as they both changed shoes. Although Shouko tried to return the greeting, her anxiety-induced embarrassment caused her to quickly run away. That same day, Hitohito was resting at his desk and when he woke up, he noticed Shouko, who was playing with a stuffed animal and lamenting her anxiety. He noticed her difficulty in communicating and suggested that they communicate using a whiteboard. Shouko finally found the confidence to open up to Hitohito and shared her dream of making a hundred friends; he offered to support her in her goal, introducing himself as her first friend. From that point on, Hitohito became Shouko's interpreter, facilitating her interaction with the other students. As a result, Shouko became captivated by him, beginning to develop special feelings for him, which led to innocent romantic situations such as sharing an umbrella, wishing to dance with him, and acknowledging her preference for spending time alone. She also experienced some jealousy when Nene Onemine tried to help Hitohito with his responsibilities as class representative. Second year of high school:

Shouko begins her second year relieved to be able to continue sharing a class with Hitohito. She also meets the person who would become her best friend: Rumiko Manbagi. After she and Hitohito comfort her after she is saddened by not being able to make friends, the three of them begin to share their daily lives, becoming closer. She then befriends Rei Natsukido, the daughter of a former classmate of her mother, who was initially cold and apathetic, as she didn't want to make friends due to her constant moving. But thanks to her persistence and the support of Hitohito and Najimi, they manage to become friends, with Shouko considering Rei as a little sister, and being her reference when she goes on the study trip to New York. During the summer festival that year, Shouko witnesses the closeness between Hitohito and Rumiko, discovering that the latter has fallen in love with him, finding themselves in an emotional conflict. However, at the cultural festival, and thanks to Maya Takarazuka writing a play ideal for her to perform, Shouko indirectly proves that she has fallen in love with him as well. Later, after a heart-to-heart talk, Shouko recognizes Rumiko as a love rival, encouraging her not to give in to her feelings for the sake of their friendship. Rumiko accepts, and from that moment on, both become more assertive towards Hitohito. The climax is on Valentine's Day, where Rumiko finally confesses her love to Hitohito, making him realize that both she and Shouko were in love with him. After tearfully rejecting Rumiko, Hitohito meets Shouko, and it is he who confesses his love to her now. Shocked but happy, Shouko accepts and they officially become a couple.

Third year of high school:

Shouko and Hitohito begin this year as a couple, to the delight of their friends, with her showing a certain dominance in the relationship by suggesting spending time together and being more assertive and daring, unlike his shyness. Her communication problem improved considerably, as she is now able to talk a little with her friends and even get along with the new class, which had completely new classmates. All this improved a little more when an exchange student arrived at the school. He was the complete opposite of Shouko, sociable, fun and had no problem expressing his displeasure towards something. Despite the notable difference in their personalities, they both share something in common, the excessive popularity of each one. She was still considered the most beautiful girl in the entire institute, and he was a student from another country, which is why he was so striking and popular.

Shuuko Komi: Shouko's mother, who shares a strong physical resemblance to her, is a remarkably outgoing person. Shouko often feels embarrassed when her mother adopts a boyish attitude in front of her friends, especially when she flirts with Hitohito. Masayoshi Komi: Shouko's father, whose personality resembles his daughter's, is reserved in his communication, but manages to express his affection for the family effectively. Najimi: Their friendship is peculiar, as they represent complete antitheses. Of uncertain gender, Najimi is the second person to establish a friendship with Shouko; she had tried to do so years ago but felt unable to due to Shouko's condition, which caused her trauma. Thanks to her communication skills, Najimi helps Shouko make several friends. Later, after the beginning of the romantic relationship between Shouko and Hitohito, Najimi begins to make funny comments, without any bad intentions. Ren Yamai: Shouko's third friend, who is in love with Komi to the point of displaying obsessive behavior. In the beginning, she is even involved in the kidnapping of Tadano out of jealousy, although Komi eventually forgives her and they develop a friendship. Omoharu Nakanaka: Her fifth friend, a chuunibyou who, like Komi, also lacked friends at first. Upon befriending Komi, she establishes a rivalry with Yamai out of a desire to get closer to her. Himiko Agari: Komi's fourth friend, who is introduced when Najimi suggests to Komi that they become friends, as Agari is also a shy and nervous person. When this proposal is made, Agari initially refuses, stating that she does not consider herself worthy of being Komi's friend, although she mentions that she could act as her pet. Hitohito Tadano symbolizes Shouko's emotional and affective support, as he has managed to understand her desires and help her face her challenges. This gesture immediately won Shouko's heart, and since then, she strives to be by his side as much as possible, going so far as to follow him almost unconsciously and keep him in mind in all his decisions.
