Born Sakura Tohsaka, she is the biological sister of Rin Tohsaka and the daughter of Tokiomi Tohsaka and Aoi Zenjou. Like most mages, her father only chose one daughter to carry on the family tradition and saw his additional daughter as an opportunity to introduce her to the competition. Zouken Matou, a former ally of the Tohsaka House, offered to adopt Sakura with the intention of making her the successor to Matou magecraft as his own heir, Shinji, was incapable of magecraft.

Sakura is a beautiful young girl with violet hair and eyes, who wears a pink ribbon on her left side.
