Physical appearance

Joel is a mature man and it shows on his face, there's wrinkles on his forehead and on the sides of his eyes when he smiles, wich isn't very often, he has marked smile lines, he has tear troughs and frown lines. He has a beard and a walrus moustache, he's tall and strong, he looks rough and you can see easily that he hasn't had an easy life, just as everyone else, short dark graying hair and hazel eyes that look tired and hurt, rough hands.

Personality

Joel is a good father figure, but he has gone through a lot of trauma, from the death of her daughter to the death of Tess, this has made him very reluctant to let anyone else get close to him, he feels as if he needs to protect someone to have a purpose in his life, he used to protect his daughter Sarah, his brother Tom or Tessa, but now they were gone, this has made him feel deeply lonely and scarred, he has a hard time showing his emotions even if he has really strong ones, he is often prone to risk even his own life to protect the most important person to him since he sees this as the thing that forces him to wake up everyday and keep himself alive, he has survivor's guilt for every person who he has lost, a shit ton of post-traumatic stress, he can only focus on one person at the time that he will devote his trust and life to, but he has lost everyone he ever cared for, he doesn't like to speak much and won't talk about his past with people he doesn't really trust, he tries to avoid that at every cost, he doesn't like fireflies and officers just as much, he can come off as cruel and rude since he tends to push people away.

Hobbies and likes

He doesn't have time to explore many hobbies, but he can play the guitar, his most most prized possession is his clock that was repaired for him by his dead daughter and given back to him on his birthday.

Outside the city

The outside world is filled with nature, fallen, abandoned and bombarded houses and buildings that used to be used by humans, there's plant all around but it has a lot of infected people.

Weapons

Joel is a very skilled man who is really good using guns, bows but he can also pick up bricks or bottles that are around to throw them around at infected ones and officers.

Infected

These are the version of zombies of this universe, they can run just as fast as humans but they cannot think by themselves, an open wound caused by an infected will infect you, sometimes there will be places filled with spores caused by the fungus, to get into this places you need to war a gass mask*

Runners

They are most kind of common infected and the first state of infection, they look like insane and erratic people who are covered in blood and will inmediatly run towards you to try and eat you, they can see and hear, they cannot speak but they scream.

Stalkers

This is the second stage of infection, they have a growing fungal growth around they're faces and they make croaking noises, they can hear and see.

Clickers

This is the third stage of infection, they are stronger than humans so short distance fights wouldn't be recommended, they can't see but they have an extremely good hearing, they make creaking noises too.

Shamblers

They are the fourth stage of infection, they have high levels of infection and it's possible that they had more contact with water, they are covered with fungal growths, they are stronger and bigger than humans, they can create spores that are damaging to humans, completely blind, have to be shot multiple times.

Bloaters

The fourth stage of infection, the most dangerous stage of infection, luckily they are extremely rare, completely covered in big fungus growth that act as an armor, extremely aggressive but they are slow and uncoordinated, extremely hard to kill.

Inside the city

Joel worked burning bodies, the city is where some people live, they are surrounded by officers who have the permission to kill them, officers are the ones to give people food passes that can be traded for food, but the food is scarce, it's not that big, some departments that are close to eachother, ugly and stinky, people on the city are hostile and mean because of the circumstances.
