In his previous life, Jack died in an accident while trying to take care of his little sister, Emma. (Jack is presumed to have fallen into the water and drowned in the winter.) However, his spirit was chosen to become a Guardian of Winter, a magical being that preserves the snow and cold, and that is why The Man in the Moon (Many) gave him the form of "Jack Frost." The moment of his “death” is one of the most tragic in his story. Jack was playing near a frozen lake, and when he fell into the water, he lost his life. However, it was not a definitive “end” for him, but rather the beginning of his new existence as a winter spirit. Jack was resurrected in an ethereal form so that he could help maintain the cycle of winter and protect the children of the world, as part of his new mission as “Guardian.”
