Count Vlad Ţepeş or known as "Dracula" is the main antagonist character of the animated series Castlevania. He is the father of Adrian Fahrenheit Ţepeş, as well as the husband of Lisa Ţepeş.
Biography
During the medieval period of Europe in Wallachia, there was a vampire named Dracula who had an aversion to humans, even going so far as to kill his victims by impalement. He possessed vast knowledge of immortality and lived alone in a castle secluded from civilization that was also a mobile fortress. In 1455, he had an unexpected visitor: a woman named Lisa de Lupu who was conducting research to improve medicine and wanted to become a doctor. She had come to Dracula to learn about the science that only he knew, but he threatened her with his distrust of humans. To his surprise, Lisa was not afraid of him and encouraged him to explore the changing world. Being drawn to her, Dracula welcomed Lisa into his home. At some point later, Dracula adopted the name "Vlad" and married Lisa. Together they had a son whom they named Adrian. They would later choose to live in a cottage outside of Targoviste, Wallachia, where Lisa continued her research into medicine.
biography
In 1475, Vlad's happy days with Lisa came to an abrupt and tragic end. One night, while returning home from his travels, he found the cottage burned to the ground. He then encountered an old woman who had been treated by Lisa. While she was leaving flowers as an offering, Vlad learned from her words that Lisa was arrested under false accusations of witchcraft and was sentenced to death. Enraged, Vlad abandoned his human identity and became 'Dracula' once more. He then warned the old woman to take her family and leave Wallachia before teleporting away in a pillar of fire. Arriving at the site of Lisa's execution, Dracula demanded to know what happened to his wife. When the Bishop proclaimed that she was a witch and that he himself was just a myth, the vampire became enraged and gave the people of Targoviste a year to make peace with their God before his return to destroy them. Upon returning to his castle, Dracula prepared to summon an army from Hell within a year. But apparently, his son Adrian then appeared and pleaded with him not to kill innocent people. Dracula screamed that there were no innocents left because no one acted to save Lisa. He then attacked him for trying to oppose him, leaving a large wound on his own son's chest. A year later, Dracula appeared in Targoviste, as promised, to a population celebrating Lisa's death. He unleashed his army upon them, resulting in a large-scale massacre. The horde then descended upon the rest of Wallachia.
personality
Vlad Dracula Tepes is an immortal vampire and master of the mobile fortress Castlevania. Up to this point, it is not entirely clear how much traditional lore of Count Dracula and the Castlevania series apply to this Dracula's background. Thus, Dracula's background is largely a mystery. What is clear is that by 1455, he had once killed several armies of humans, but had now shunned them and lived a secluded life in his Castlevania castle. Given Dracula's extreme intelligence, physical superiority, and bickering with Lisa, it is strongly hinted that he views humans as inferior life forms. Where he was once involved in human affairs, by 1455 he saw no point in wasting his time with 'peasants'. While intelligent and lordly in character, he lacks charm. He has a wild and menacing nature that is only accentuated after Lisa's death. While many would use weapons in combat, he is known to use his own claws like a lion or bear. Lisa herself noted his lack of charm and suggested that he could relearn manners herself. During their years of marriage, he took this to heart and had a much more human attitude than usual. When he and Lisa met and she asked to learn from him, they quickly developed a strong attraction to each other. Neither had ever met anyone like the other before. Dracula was of course attracted to Lisa's beauty, but even more so to her character. He described her as 'definitely different from most humans' he had met. Lisa's bravery, courtesy, intelligence and kind-hearted nature impressed him and he allowed her to study under him. They soon married and had a son, Adrian Tepes.
personality
Lisa saw the best in Dracula and immediately recognized that he had the potential to improve the lives of humans everywhere with his knowledge. As per Lisa's wishes, he would spend most of his time traveling. It was her hope that he would also learn from her travels and from humans as she did from him. Dracula himself seemed to appreciate her encouragement, though his later actions imply that he was never able to see other humans the way Lisa would wish him to. If anything, the light from his experiences only turned to more ashes after he returned home and was informed that his wife had been executed. When Lisa was unjustly murdered in 1475, the love Dracula held in his heart died along with her. He would later admit that she was the only true love he had ever known. Immediately after Lisa's bones turned to ash, Dracula rose from the flames of his wife and demanded an explanation. He was enraged to learn that his wife had been murdered out of unjust dogmatic stupidity and was further enraged when the Bishop who ordered the execution denied the existence of Dracula himself. At that point, Dracula proclaimed that he would take everything from the citizens of Wallachia and leave no sign that they ever existed. Though he surely knew that his wife would not want him to take revenge, his heart was now dead and filled with utter misanthropy. Humans were no longer peasants to him, but beasts that he could no longer tolerate. To him, Lisa was the only good thing that humanity had ever produced and humanity itself had killed her.
personality
Proof of Dracula's loss of love came soon after when he inflicted a near-fatal blow on his own son Adrian, when he tried to reason with him and stop him from committing genocide. In this confrontation, his son argues for only punishing the guilty, but Dracula refutes this argument. In his mind, all humans were guilty because none of them stood up to stop the unjust murder. It is worth noting that he issued a one-year warning to humanity to make amends; Dracula was even more disappointed in humanity because no humans heeded his warning or repented to him, telling them before unleashing his army that they "had their chance." A year later, Dracula began his war of extermination, unleashing an army of Hell on Targoviste, calling on his army to kill all of humanity and accepting his future eternity of endless hatred.
powers and abilities
Immortality: He is immortal and cannot die from aging. The details of his immortality are still unclear. Vampirism: He is a vampire; probably the strongest in the world. He possesses many of the usual characteristics of vampirism: fangs, claws, pale skin, and drinks blood. It is unknown if he possesses normal vampiric weaknesses, but it is implied that he may not. He scoffs when wondering aloud if Lisa was armed with silver, crosses, and garlic; calling them superstitious items. So far, Dracula has not been seen in sunlight, though he did travel the world on foot for many years. Extreme Physical Superiority: He is an imposing man at his physical peak and has superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes beyond his appearance. He is capable of shattering hard objects with his bare hands and bested Adrian/Alucard in an instant, despite his son being a masterful warrior in his own right. Apex Intellectual: He is easily the most knowledgeable being in the world as of 1476. During his immortal life, he had become a brilliant scientist and the world's foremost expert in the following fields: Physics, Astrology, Chemistry, Engineering, and other fields beyond. Many of his inventions and constructions are centuries ahead of his own time and some are even beyond the technology of the 21st century itself. Furthermore, he is well versed in the use of magic, which he has applied to his inventions. It is heavily implied that he designed and built Castlevania himself. Connections to Hell: His exact relationship to Hell, and Heaven, is unknown, but he has a clear influence over the demons of Hell. It is unclear if he is the supreme ruler of the demons, but when he summons them, the demons respond without disobedience. Two facts are clear: he has the power to command demons without question, and he can raise an army of monsters given enough time.
powers and abilities
Pyrokinesis: He has tremendous control over fire. He can transform his body into flames and project himself through fires anywhere. He can manifest fire anywhere, even in the sky. He can teleport through flames as well. Bat Affinity: Bats often congregate in Castlevania Castle. He has been shown to project his own image and voice through flocks of bats.
Wallachia history.
Wallachia is a geographical region located in Moldavia in Europe during the Late Middle Ages. A region in full development, as typical of the time, most of the territory's wealth has long been seized by the ancient great families to consolidate their power, which is concentrated mainly in its fortified cities, such as Targoviste, Gresit, Banat, Bukharest, Grosswardein and Jessyo, leaving those living on its outskirts and in the mountains settling in small towns - many of them in a state of impoverishment - where people generally live an uneducated life and support themselves mainly through the common activities of such areas, such as agriculture, livestock, ownership of small businesses and the sale of their own products in the markets. In general, the inhabitants of Wallachia are very superstitious and still believe in ancient supernatural tales, which mention themes such as the existence of demons and legends of sorcerers who practiced black magic. Therefore, the inhabitants turn with blind faith to the Church to protect them from such evils, which thanks to this has gained great political power and influence in the country.
Wallachia history.
In 1475, the clergy of Targoviste burned a woman at the stake on false accusations of witchcraft. Lisa Tepes, as she was called, was the human wife of a powerful Transylvanian vampire named Vlad Dracula. Convinced by his wife that he should travel the world to experience all the good things it had to offer, Dracula was away when Lisa was arrested and executed. Quickly informed upon his return of what had happened during his absence, he used his powers to confront the culprits, who were still congregated at the pyre where his wife's ashes still burned. He warned them to make peace and leave the town, as he would return within a year to exact his revenge. The Church leaders, supposedly believing him to be the Devil himself, disregarded this warning and, reassured by such an assumption, the townspeople went about their normal lives. However, Dracula kept his promise and a year later he returned with an army of demons who attacked the city. This attack became a fundamental turning point of life as it was known in Wallachia, as Dracula's goal was not only to take revenge but to eradicate all human life in the world; and so, he began to advance towards all of its major cities. To do so, he gathered the help of other powerful vampires, kings and queens of their respective lands along with their armies, as well as some sorcerers, to increase his military power, using his displaced castle as the main symbol of his hostile campaign to spread terror wherever he went.
Wallachia history.
However, even though they belonged to the same persecuted race, not all of the vampire generals Dracula summoned were completely loyal to him. Carmilla, one of the four queens of Styria, noticing that Dracula's war was nothing more than a suicide note in grievance for his dead wife, came up with her own agenda to betray the Vampire Lord and anyone else who stood by his side if necessary, while convincing whoever she could to join her. All done at the right time, it would not only stop the suicidal war, but collect all of its loot and bring glory and power to her land, which was currently going through tense relations with its neighboring countries.
