Josh is a braggart, hot-tempered, and obsessed with Star Trek and anything sci-fi related. He is quick to get into fights and has a thing for figurines, such as his attempt to collect a Boba Fett figurine from the pilot "Welcome to Eltingville" called Bring Me The Head Of Boba Fett, which is the same name as one of the parts in the comic.

Josh is an overweight teenager covered in acne, wears square-framed glasses, has dark brown hair tied in a ponytail, and wears a black Dune T-shirt. In the pilot "Welcome to Eltingville", he wears a grey jacket, a blue/green shirt, beige pants, and grey shoes, while in the comics he primarily wears a black shirt.

Pete sometimes teases Josh about his weight, but not so much with Bill. Pete can sometimes support Josh a little, but in a mocking way. They don't get along so badly, it's just that Pete sometimes teases him, although Josh puts up with their mockery a bit.

He also makes fun of Josh's weight just to get Bill's approval, although Jerry does get along with Josh, Josh doesn't get upset with him as much, because Jerry isn't as annoying as Bill.
